Nomad has raised $2 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round, doubling its original $1 million target as investor demand exceeded expectations. The Toronto-based company marked the milestone exactly one year after its launch, signaling strong early traction for its AI-driven approach to fleet management.
The funding positions Nomad to accelerate product development and expand its market presence as it builds what it describes as an “AI operating system” for the North American trucking industry. The sector, valued at approximately $800 billion, has historically lagged in technology adoption, relying heavily on fragmented legacy systems and manual processes.
Founded by Loren Shifrin, Nomad is tackling this gap by consolidating key fleet operations into a unified, AI-native platform. The company initially launched with intelligent fuel management, targeting one of the largest cost centers for trucking companies after labor. By focusing on fuel optimization, Nomad aims to deliver immediate return on investment while building a broader data foundation for expanding into additional operational areas.
In its first year, the company has progressed from concept to a live platform onboarding fleets across the United States and Canada. Its system continuously analyzes operational data in real time, identifying inefficiencies, fraud, and optimization opportunities across fleet activities including fuel purchasing, route planning, and financing decisions.
The newly raised capital will be deployed across three main priorities: expanding the AI engine into additional operational domains, scaling go-to-market efforts and partnerships, and growing both engineering and commercial teams. Nomad is targeting a Series A round in the second to third quarter of 2026.
The company’s broader vision is to replace disconnected tools with a single intelligent platform that learns from each fleet’s operations and continuously improves decision-making across the business.
