North.cloud Raises $60 Million Series B Led By PeakSpan Capital To Automate Cloud, AI, And Data Spend

North.cloud has raised $60 million in Series B funding to expand its infrastructure spend intelligence and automation platform across cloud, artificial intelligence, and data environments. The round was led by PeakSpan Capital, with participation from Litquidity Ventures, Companyon Ventures, Alpaca, Uncommon Denominator, Gaingels, and Mana Ventures.

North plans to use the funding to expand autonomous optimization across cloud providers, deepen platform integrations, accelerate AI spend management, and grow its engineering, product, and go-to-market teams.

North is approaching $2 billion in managed cloud spend and said its platform has helped customers save more than $400 million. The company serves customers including AssemblyAI, Atlan, Tines, SnapLogic, Emplifi, and Imply and reports a 98.8% customer retention rate.

The platform is designed to give finance and engineering teams a unified system for understanding, optimizing, and automating infrastructure spending across Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, AI services, and data platforms. North’s strategy is to move beyond spend visibility and automate optimization decisions that otherwise require ongoing manual oversight.

The financing follows the launch of North v3, which added Microsoft Azure and completed the company’s coverage across the three major cloud hyperscalers. The release also introduced native integrations with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Snowflake and expanded Autobot, North’s automated commitment laddering engine.

North is also expanding into AI spend management through TokenFlow, which brings model usage, attribution, budgets, and financial controls into the same platform used to manage cloud infrastructure. The company sees cloud, AI, and data expenses becoming increasingly interconnected as AI applications rely on multiple infrastructure and software layers.

AssemblyAI said its effective savings rate has remained around 50% while its infrastructure footprint has grown significantly. North said customers use its platform to reduce infrastructure waste, improve compute efficiency, automate FinOps processes, and manage technology spending without building large internal optimization teams.

The new capital will support North’s effort to develop a more autonomous financial operating system for technology infrastructure, with the company seeking to automate the full lifecycle of spend management rather than relying on dashboards that engineering and finance teams must continuously interpret.

KEY QUOTES:

“In the AI era, there’s a direct line between how efficiently you invest in technology and how smart your product actually is. North sits inside that stack, automating FinOps in just a few clicks, not a dashboard someone has to interpret. The rest of the market still treats optimization as an engineering problem. We think that’s the wrong bet: it’s a business problem, and it deserves a real fintech platform built on automation and AI, not another tool bolted onto engineering’s plate. North is the first product built to eliminate manual optimization entirely, democratizing FinOps so any company can move faster and run leaner.”

Matt Biringer, CEO And Co-Founder Of North.cloud

“With North our effective savings rate has held steady at around fifty percent even as our infrastructure has scaled up considerably over the past year. Since partnering with them I haven’t had to think about managing cloud savings. Coverage has grown automatically allowing my team to focus on building for our customers instead of our cloud bill.”

Ben Gotthold, Head Of Inference At AssemblyAI

“Cloud is where the spend problem started, and AI has only accelerated it, turning infrastructure into the fastest-growing and least-governed line item on the P&L. With an estimated 30% of cloud spend wasted, before AI and data costs are even counted, hundreds of billions of dollars that should be fueling growth are lost every year. Our thesis has always been that the winner will not stop at visibility. It will agentically own the entire lifecycle of spend, and North is already doing this. Matt and the team pair a bold vision with the operational rigor to execute on it, and that combination has earned the trust of some of the most innovative, hypergrowth companies in the market. Partnering with founders like Matt is why we do this work. We are grateful for the trust the team has placed in PeakSpan, and we could not be more excited to support them as North builds a consequential business and the category leader.”

Sanket Merchant, Partner At PeakSpan Capital

“What North has built in product sets the stage for something much bigger than cost optimization: an agentic managed service that does the work of an entire FinOps team, continuously. That surface area was once limited to cloud spend, and it has now expanded dramatically to cover the AI and data platforms every modern business runs on. We are energized by how quickly North has moved to meet that moment, and even more by what it means for customers who will never have to build that team themselves.”
