North Pole Security has raised $4 million in seed funding to launch Workshop, a scalable endpoint protection platform for macOS focused on proactive malware prevention. Led by Andreessen Horowitz, this funding will enhance the platform and accelerate its market entry.
As cyber threats increasingly evade detection by exploiting legitimate tools and using AI-driven tactics, Workshop aims to provide a robust defense. It adopts advanced allowlisting to block unknown applications by default, streamlining approval processes and making this approach manageable for enterprises.
Built on Santa, an open-source binary and file access authorization tool developed at Google, Workshop offers a flexible solution for endpoint security. Its key benefits include:
- Prevention-first architecture to stop threats before execution
-
Real-time policy enforcement
-
USB/SD media control to prevent unauthorized device use
-
Granular telemetry for full endpoint visibility
KEY QUOTE:
“macOS is quietly taking over the business endpoint world. One out of every five business machines in the U.S. are now running macOS, but the industry still lacks a real security playbook for it. Workshop enables teams to confidently lock down macOS endpoints at scale without compromising usability or introducing operational overhead.”
“We’ve worked hand-in-hand with Fortune 500 design partners to ensure Workshop is not only secure, but usable in the real world. Security teams are no longer forced to choose between strong protection and operational flexibility.”
