Northstar Security Raises $7 Million Seed Funding Led By Wing Venture Capital

Northstar Security has emerged from stealth with $7 million in seed funding to develop its agentic AI platform for identifying and resolving interconnected cybersecurity risks. The round was led by Wing Venture Capital, with participation from MVP, Outliers, and cybersecurity industry veterans Gerhard Eschelbeck, Renaud Deraison, and Justin Somaini.

Northstar plans to use the funding to accelerate product development, expand its team, and support go-to-market efforts.

The company is addressing a growing challenge for enterprise security teams: critical information is often spread across disconnected security and IT platforms, making it difficult to understand how vulnerabilities, devices, identities, and business systems interact.

Northstar’s platform creates a real-time Security Context Graph that maps relationships among assets, identities, vulnerabilities, applications, and business systems. The graph provides contextual information that security professionals and AI agents can use to identify risks that may not appear significant when analyzed individually.

The platform is designed to uncover what Northstar calls toxic combinations, such as an unmanaged device belonging to a privileged user who also has access to a critical corporate system.

Security teams can query the platform using natural language to investigate those relationships. Northstar’s AI agents can then initiate remediation workflows, including deploying security controls, notifying users, or restricting access, while allowing human oversight when appropriate.

Northstar also makes its Security Context Graph available to external AI agents through Model Context Protocol, enabling customers to build security workflows using Claude and other AI platforms.

The company currently supports more than 70 integrations with enterprise security and IT systems, including AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra, Okta, GitHub, Slack, Workday, and Zendesk.

Northstar was founded by CEO Amer Deeba and CTO Ed Rowe, who previously worked together at Adobe. Deeba previously co-founded Normalyze, which was acquired by Proofpoint, and held leadership roles at Qualys. Rowe previously served as CTO of Farmers Business Network and Senior Vice President of Engineering at AppDynamics.

Northstar said its broader goal is to shift enterprise cybersecurity operations from investigating individual alerts toward continuously identifying and resolving risks through AI-driven workflows.

KEY QUOTES:

“Security teams are drowning in data but starving for context. We’ve spent decades building better tools to find security problems, but connecting the dots and fixing them remains painfully manual. We believe the next generation of security won’t be defined by more dashboards or alerts. It will be powered by AI agents that understand the full context of an organization’s environment and can take proactive action.”

Amer Deeba, CEO And Co-Founder Of Northstar Security

“Northstar is challenging decades of conventional thinking by giving AI agents the context to understand what’s happening and the ability to do something about it. We believe it has the potential to fundamentally rewrite the security playbook.”

Jake Flomenberg, Partner At Wing Venture Capital

“Security teams don’t need another dashboard generating more findings. We need to connect the data we already have, understand what matters, and turn that context into action. Northstar lets us do exactly that, using agentic workflows to continuously identify and remediate security issues.”

Randy Barr, CISO Of Cequence Security

“The next generation of security operations won’t be measured by how many alerts teams can process, but by how quickly they can proactively resolve risks. Northstar is enabling that shift by giving AI agents the context to move from investigation to autonomous action.”

Gerhard Eschelbeck, Former CISO Of Google And Investor In Northstar Security
