Northwood Space has raised a $375 million Series C to expand its global ground network connecting satellites to Earth and accelerate work for commercial, U.S. government, and allied customers. Andreessen Horowitz and DFJ Growth co-led the equity financing. Other participants included Alpine Space Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners, Stepstone Activate, In-Q-Tel, and additional investors.
Northwood also secured a separate multi-year credit facility from HSBC Innovation Banking to support working capital and network expansion.
The Series C comes less than nine months after Northwood’s previous financing.
Since then, the company has deployed six sites capable of serving multiple orbital regimes across two continents, demonstrated geosynchronous satellite command capabilities using a commercial phased array, launched a high-throughput antenna system, and opened a new 185,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Torrance, California.
That facility increased Northwood’s manufacturing footprint by more than five times.
Northwood designs and manufactures modular ground-station antennas, including its Portal phased arrays for satellite command and control and Prism dishes for high-throughput payload data.
The company combines that hardware with proprietary networking and scheduling software, allowing satellite operators to buy capacity on a shared network rather than build dedicated ground stations.
Northwood said a new site can be deployed in approximately three months, while individual antennas can move from delivery to live satellite links within three to four hours.
The company recently combined 10 Portal units to achieve receive performance equivalent to a 20-foot dish.
Northwood plans to build sites capable of more than 100 Gbps in high-demand regions by the end of 2027.
The company currently employs more than 140 people and plans to add approximately 400 jobs in Torrance and Washington, D.C. over the next three years.
