Norton Rose Fulbright has hired Richard Madris as a partner in its funds and asset management group in New York, bolstering the firm’s financial services bench and expanding its investment funds and asset management capabilities across its global platform.
Madris is known for advising major sponsors and asset managers on complex fund formations and transactions, with particular emphasis on real assets. His practice spans infrastructure, real estate, private equity, private credit, renewables and other strategies, and includes advising on fund formation and operations, structuring fund investments, and building permanent capital and evergreen structures for illiquid assets.
The firm highlighted Madris’ role in creating JPMorgan’s Infrastructure Investments Fund, described as a leading open-end global infrastructure fund, and said he has advised on more than $25 billion in privately held investments over the course of his career. His work also includes representing sponsors, wealth management platforms and institutional allocators on matters ranging from platform and distribution issues to LP investments, secondaries, fund restructurings and GP-led transactions, as well as structuring joint ventures and cross-border co-investment and club-deal arrangements.
In announcing the move, Norton Rose Fulbright said Madris’ experience and institutional relationships support its continued push to grow its funds and asset management offering in New York and globally. Madris joins from Hogan Lovells after decades at Stroock in New York, where he was a key member of the investment funds group and led its infrastructure funds practice.
Madris earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was a Law Review member, and his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Cornell University. He is admitted in New York.
