Notable Names Dr. Nicholas Desai As Chief Medical Officer To Drive Enterprise AI Adoption

Notable has appointed Dr. Nicholas Desai as Chief Medical Officer, bringing in a former Houston Methodist technology and hospital operations executive to help health systems translate AI deployments into measurable improvements in capacity, patient access and workforce productivity.

Desai joins Notable after holding multiple leadership roles at Houston Methodist spanning clinical technology, hospital operations, quality and organizational growth.

His positions included system Chief Medical Information Officer and hospital Chief Operating Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer.

Most recently, Desai helped lead the development, opening and growth of Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital, providing him with experience integrating technology, clinical operations and organizational culture from the beginning of a new hospital’s operations.

He brings more than two decades of experience connecting enterprise technology with clinical practice and organizational transformation.

At Notable, Desai will work with health system executives to identify high-value opportunities for AI, align clinical and operational teams and convert those priorities into workflows that can be deployed and measured.

His work will focus on patient access, care operations and workforce productivity.

He will also help ensure that health systems can introduce new technology within existing staffing, infrastructure and budget constraints and will provide input into Notable’s product development and delivery strategy.

The appointment supports Notable’s broader vision for what it calls a “System of Work,” where AI agents and people collaborate across existing healthcare systems to move tasks from initial requests through completion.

Rather than measuring AI adoption by the number of tools deployed, Notable wants health systems to focus on operational outcomes such as shorter patient wait times, increased staff capacity and more reliable completion of administrative work.

The company’s AI platform is deployed across more than 12,000 sites of care.

Notable said millions of formerly manual tasks are automated through its platform each day across areas including patient access, revenue cycle management and care operations.

Its AI agents are designed to reduce administrative work while allowing healthcare employees and providers to spend more time on higher-value clinical and patient-facing responsibilities.

Notable is backed by investors including ICONIQ Growth, Greylock Partners, F-Prime, Oak HC/FT, Maverick Ventures and 8VC.

KEY QUOTES:

“More AI does not automatically mean more capacity or better margins. Those gains require changing how work gets done.”

“Nick has led clinical technology across a health system and taken direct responsibility for hospital operations. He understands what has to change, what cannot be compromised, and what it takes to bring an organization through that kind of transformation.”

Pranay Kapadia, CEO and Co-Founder of Notable

“The measure of AI will not be intelligence. It will be impact.”

“For a health system, that means whether patients get care sooner, whether teams have more capacity, and whether work gets completed reliably.”
