NoTraffic is a leading mobility platform that has a goal of digitizing the foundation of transportation to improve safety and traffic efficiency while reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Pulse 2.0 interviewed NoTraffic co-founder and CEO Tal Kreisler to learn more.
Tal Kreisler’s Background
Kreisler has an extensive background in business management across a variety of fields. And Kreisler said:
“Before NoTraffic, I served as a Business Analyst at Beta Finance consulting firm, where I led complex projects in the transportation, infrastructure, and energy industries.”
Formation Of NoTraffic
How did the idea for NoTraffic come together? Kreisler shared:
“The idea for NoTraffic was born when Uriel was on his way home late one night and stopped at a red light at an intersection when there was no one else around. He thought to himself, ‘How is it that technology doesn’t exist yet to solve this issue?’”
“In 2017, I teamed up with Uriel Katz and Or Sela, and we launched NoTraffic to solve this problem and bring innovation to the traffic management industry.”
Favorite Memory
What has been your favorite memory working for NoTraffic so far? Kreisler reflected:
“We reached a significant milestone with the deployment of our first system in Southern California, marking the transition from a mere idea to a tangible reality. Another noteworthy achievement was receiving the TIME 100 award last year, where we were recognized as one of the 100 most influential companies in the world.”
“Sharing this prestigious honor alongside companies such as Moderna and Rivian affirmed that we are indeed on the right path and building a meaningful company.”
Challenges Faced
What challenges has Kreisler faced in building the company? Kreisler acknowledged:
“We are lucky that in a difficult economic time, the infrastructure industry is thriving. Recently, the industry has gained significant tailwinds as the U.S. just passed a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. So, while we are living in a macroeconomic climate that has been difficult for tech startups, we play a crucial role as part of the infrastructure industry, and as a result, we have raised one of the most successful funding rounds for a mobility company this year.”
Core Products
What are NoTraffic’s core products and features? Kreisler explained:
“The NoTraffic mobility platform offers a first-of-its-kind AI-powered platform that enables Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and other stakeholders to manage traffic in real-time. Acting as a one-stop-shop for all mobility needs and cutting down interdependencies on expensive legacy vertical solutions with limited interoperability, NoTraffic offers a first-ever mobility marketplace with access to multiple services for enhanced safety, data analysis, efficiency, detection, and more.”
“In addition, by leveraging a network of smart sensors deployed at signalized intersections, conflict points, or complex roadways, the platform gives traffic authorities and infrastructure operators the ability to fully control and prioritize traffic flow for all kinds of transportation — cars, bicycles, buses, pedestrians and more. NoTraffic utilizes edge computing technology, pioneering unparalleled software-defined infrastructure that facilitates real-time decision making at both local and cloud levels.”
Evolution Of NoTraffic’s Technology
How has NoTraffic’s technology evolved since launching? Kreisler noted:
“Last year, we successfully launched our marketplace, and we are currently in the process of developing additional mobility applications. One example is an application we have developed to mitigate red light running incidents. This application provides a comprehensive analysis of the intersections, examining the root causes and determining where, why, and how these events occur. Our goal is to enhance safety and reduce accidents by implementing effective measures to reduce these incidents.”
Significant Milestones
What have been some of NoTraffic’s most significant milestones? Kreisler cited:
“We have successfully developed and introduced an innovative marketplace for mobility solutions. This marketplace offers traffic agencies a convenient and comprehensive platform where they can access all their mobility applications and services. For the first time, these agencies can effortlessly activate various mobility options, including safety and navigation features, with just a simple click.”
“Furthermore, we have established strong partnerships with over 20 strategic entities to expand our distribution network. One notable partnership is with Rogers Communications, the largest telecommunications company in Canada. Together with Rogers, we have successfully launched multiple deployments in the Vancouver area.”
“Currently, we are deployed and operational in 13 states across the United States, including California, Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and more. We anticipate doubling our presence in the coming year.”
“Our accomplishments have been recognized by various prestigious institutions. We were honored as a TIME 100 Most Influential Company for 2022 and received accolades such as the CLEPA Innovation Award for 2022 and the CES 2023 Innovation Award.”
“Additionally, during NVIDIA’s GTC conference in 2022, our company was highlighted in the CEO’s Keynote as the revolutionary force in the mobility sector, leveraging AI technology and edge computing.”
Customer Success Stories
Upon asking Kreisler about customer success stories, he replied:
“We have deployed our technology and formed relationships with DOTs in Texas, Arizona, and California. Due to the success seen in the intersections and areas where NoTaffic has been deployed, we are expanding our partnerships to include more intersections and make a larger impact on reducing congestion, collisions, and CO2 emissions even further.”
Funding
After asking Kreisler about the company’s funding, he revealed:
“We just recently announced our successful completion of a $50 million Series B funding round led by M&G Investments.”
Total Addressable Market
What total addressable market (TAM) size is NoTraffic pursuing? Kreisler assessed:
“We believe that it’s around $17B for North America and Western EU.”
Differentiation From The Competition
What differentiates NoTraffic from its competition? Kreisler affirmed:
“In many ways, NoTraffic is the first to introduce many capabilities to the industry. For the first time, we have combined and automated an array of traffic-tech products and functions in one centralized marketplace. In this way, we have made NoTraffic’s proprietary traffic optimization solution the iPhone for mobility infrastructure tech.”
“Additionally, the hardware component of NoTraffic’s product is the only transportation tech sensor on the market that combines both a camera and a radar. Another feature of the NoTraffic technology that differentiates us from our competitors is our use of AI for our proprietary computer vision neural networks and traffic optimization algorithms.”
Future Company Goals
What are some of NoTraffic’s future company goals? Kreisler concluded:
“With our recent series B funding round, we are looking to expand our presence and accelerate our growth momentum into new global markets, including Japan, Italy, Germany, and the UK.”
