Nu Quantum has secured a landmark $60 million Series A round, the most significant financing ever completed by a pure-play quantum networking company and the largest quantum-focused Series A in the United Kingdom. Led by National Grid Partners with participation from Gresham House Ventures and Morpheus Ventures, the oversubscribed round also included continued backing from Amadeus Capital Partners, IQ Capital, Ahren Capital, Cambridge Enterprise Ventures, East Innovate, NSSIF, and Sumitomo’s Presidio Ventures.
The company plans to use the capital to advance its Entanglement Fabric networking infrastructure, expand its multidisciplinary team, and extend its presence across Europe and the United States.
Founded seven years ago, Nu Quantum has pioneered distributed quantum computing by interconnecting individual processors into a scalable networked architecture. This approach targets the industry’s greatest limitation: the need to increase qubit counts by orders of magnitude to achieve fault tolerance and real-world utility. While many quantum companies center development on improving individual processors, Nu Quantum’s strategy focuses on scaling through modular networking links that enable powerful, distributed computation.
The company’s quantum networking stack is designed to weave independent quantum processors into a unified distributed system, similar to how networking technologies enabled the growth of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data centers, and high-performance computing. Its architecture is adaptable across multiple qubit modalities, helping position the company as a critical enabler of the projected trillion-dollar quantum computing market.
Nu Quantum will also accelerate development of its networking technologies and deliver on a roadmap informed by its work in Distributed Quantum Error Correction. The company will build on previous milestones, including the Qubit-Photon Interface introduced in 2024 and the Quantum Networking Unit released in 2025. Nu Quantum also plans to scale its global footprint following the opening of its Los Angeles office and deepen collaboration across the ecosystem through its Quantum Datacenter Alliance while partnering with Quantum Processing Unit developers on network-processor integration.
The company’s expansion in the United States is supported by a Strategic Advisory Board composed of prominent industry veterans, including Dr. Robert Sutor, formerly of IBM; Roland Acra, former CTO of Cisco Systems; and Richard Moulds, former head of Amazon Braket.
KEY QUOTES
“When we launched seven years ago, very few were thinking about networked or distributed quantum computing as a strategy for scaling, but we saw it as one of the most urgent and challenging outstanding problems in the industry, and set out to solve it. We’ve made great strides in shaping the market and the technology since then. As we’ve grown, I’m proud we have created a culture defined by fearless innovation and fuelled by collaboration and diversity under a shared mission to accelerate quantum computing for good. This investment validates our vision and the maturity of our solution as the path to scaling. I’d like to warmly thank the Nu Quantum team for their achievements, and our investors for their support.”
