Numeral Raises $100 Million Series C Led By Insight Partners, Bringing Total Funding To $157 Million

Numeral, a San Francisco-based AI-powered sales tax compliance platform, has raised a $100 million Series C led by Insight Partners, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Geodesic, Benchmark, Mayfield, FCVC, Y Combinator, and Uncork. The financing brings Numeral’s total funding to $157 million and will support product development, expansion into additional industries, international growth, and hiring across engineering, sales, marketing, and product teams.

Founded in 2023 by CEO Sam Ross and CTO Matt DuVall, Numeral provides software designed to simplify sales tax compliance for businesses operating across multiple jurisdictions and increasingly complex business models.

The platform supports the full sales tax compliance lifecycle, including nexus monitoring, registrations, tax calculation, filings, remittance, and exemption certificate management.

Numeral plans to use its latest financing to expand its offerings for software, manufacturing, distribution, and wholesale businesses, sectors in which changing tax requirements and increasingly complex transaction structures create significant compliance challenges.

The investment follows substantial growth in the company’s transaction volume. Numeral reported a 327% year-over-year increase in total transaction volume and expects to process more than 80 million transactions through its tax engine.

Its customer base has also expanded across additional industries, with increasing adoption among software, distribution, and manufacturing businesses.

Numeral’s platform combines a deterministic tax calculation engine with AI and automation to manage high-volume compliance activities while providing customers with access to in-house tax specialists for more complex questions.

The company supports VAT and GST compliance in more than 90 countries and integrates with over 40 billing systems, financial platforms, and enterprise resource planning systems.

According to Numeral, customers using its software can reduce the time spent on tax filings and registrations by up to 80%, while reducing manual spreadsheet work and filing errors by up to 95%.

Its exemption certificate management capabilities can save businesses up to 400 hours annually. Numeral also reports that when businesses transfer existing exemption certificates onto its platform, approximately 30% to 40% fail validation, potentially revealing previously unidentified compliance issues.

The company is also expanding its relationships with accounting firms through a newly launched accounting partner program.

Participating firms can refer customers, resell Numeral’s platform, use the technology to deliver their own services, or provide clients with implementation guidance.

The program is intended to support accounting professionals as they continue advising clients on tax matters while giving them access to Numeral’s automated compliance capabilities.

The company previously raised a $35 million Series B in September 2025. Its latest financing provides additional resources to accelerate product development and expand its market presence as more businesses seek to automate tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

KEY QUOTES:

“Sales tax has become a much bigger operational challenge as companies grow across markets, systems and business models. Businesses need infrastructure that can keep pace as rules and requirements change across jurisdictions, without adding more manual work for their teams. We’re building Numeral to provide that foundation, backed by tax expertise and service that customers can rely on. Our customers want to know that their tax obligations are being handled accurately while still having access to a person when a complex issue comes up. That expectation shapes how we build the platform and how we support each customer. As Numeral moves into additional industries and serves larger businesses, we’ll continue investing in both the technology and the tax expertise behind it.”
