NVIDIA and Corning announced a multiyear commercial and technology partnership aimed at expanding U.S.-based manufacturing capacity for optical connectivity products used in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Under the partnership, Corning plans to increase its U.S. optical connectivity manufacturing capacity by 10 times and expand domestic fiber production capacity by more than 50% to support growing demand from AI data center deployments.

The expansion includes the construction of three new advanced manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Texas and is expected to create more than 3,000 high-paying jobs in the United States.

Corning said the expanded manufacturing footprint will supply optical connectivity solutions used in hyperscale data centers deploying NVIDIA accelerated computing infrastructure. The companies noted that modern AI workloads require thousands of GPUs connected through high-performance optical fiber and photonics systems to support large-scale data movement.

The partnership is intended to support the increasing scale of AI factory buildouts and strengthen U.S.-based supply chains for AI infrastructure technologies. Corning, which invented low-loss optical fiber, said it is positioned to meet demand for optical connectivity products at scale through its expertise in glass science and optical physics.

NVIDIA is a provider of AI and accelerated computing technologies, while Corning operates across optical communications, display technologies, semiconductors, automotive, and life sciences markets.
