OpenAI and NVIDIA have announced a major strategic partnership aimed at building the next generation of artificial intelligence infrastructure. The two companies have signed a letter of intent to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA systems, which will be used to train and run OpenAI’s future models. This initiative is part of OpenAI’s broader goal to develop superintelligence—advanced AI systems that could eventually surpass human capabilities in many areas.

To support this massive deployment, NVIDIA plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI. This investment will cover not only the hardware but also the data center and power capacity needed to run such large-scale systems. The first phase of this infrastructure rollout is expected to begin in the second half of 2026 and will use NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform, which is designed for high-performance AI computing.

As part of the agreement, OpenAI will work with NVIDIA as its preferred partner for compute and networking needs. The two companies will collaborate closely to align their development roadmaps, ensuring that OpenAI’s software and models are optimized to run efficiently on NVIDIA’s hardware and systems. This partnership builds on existing collaborations with other major players like Microsoft, Oracle, SoftBank, and Stargate partners, all of whom are contributing to the development of advanced AI infrastructure.

OpenAI has already achieved significant scale, with over 700 million weekly active users and widespread adoption across businesses, developers, and global enterprises. This new partnership with NVIDIA is expected to accelerate OpenAI’s progress toward building artificial general intelligence—AI that can benefit humanity by solving complex problems and supporting innovation across industries.

The companies plan to finalize the details of this partnership in the coming weeks, marking a new chapter in the evolution of AI technology and infrastructure.
