The New Zealand Superannuation Fund has committed an additional $50 million to its value-added U.S. timberland mandate with Domain Timber Advisors, increasing the separately managed account to $200 million.
The additional capital builds on a $150 million mandate established in 2023.
Domain Timber Advisors has fully deployed the original commitment across a diversified portfolio of U.S. timberland investments.
The new $50 million allocation will provide additional capital for acquisitions as well as value-creation initiatives within both existing and future properties.
Domain’s investment strategy targets non-industrial, fragmented or undermanaged timberland where active property management can potentially improve economic and environmental value.
The strategy incorporates forestry management, certification and stewardship, property improvements, aggregation of individual timberland assets and selective alternative land-use opportunities.
The objective is to transform individual holdings into larger, institutional-quality portfolios while improving underlying asset performance.
NZ Super Fund’s additional commitment reflects the long-term nature of the relationship and follows the deployment of the original mandate.
Domain Timber Advisors managed approximately $866 million across roughly 270,000 acres in the U.S. as of March 31, 2026.
Since its founding in 2016, the company has overseen approximately $1.3 billion of commitments across 19 funds and separate accounts spanning 26 states.
Domain Timber Advisors is part of Domain Capital Group, which managed approximately $9.1 billion in assets through its registered investment advisory subsidiaries as of March 31.
NZ Super Fund is a sovereign wealth fund established by the New Zealand government to help pre-fund future universal superannuation costs.
For NZ Super Fund, timberland provides exposure to a real asset with long investment horizons, while Domain’s value-added mandate creates opportunities to increase returns through active property-level strategies.
