Odeko has acquired Montreal-based food and beverage distributor Nantel McDiarmid in its first cross-border acquisition, expanding the company’s operations into Canada.
Odeko provides operations and technology services to more than 30,000 independent coffee shops, cafés, and other food and beverage businesses across the United States.
Nantel McDiarmid serves more than 3,500 business customers throughout Canada and offers a broad portfolio of food and beverage products supported by supplier relationships and national subdistribution capabilities.
The company’s roots date to 1960, when it began as a family-owned dairy distribution business. Nantel McDiarmid took its current form in 2019 following the merger of Nantel Distribution and P. McDiarmid et fils.
The acquisition creates a broader North American platform for both companies.
Canadian customers will gain access to Odeko’s technology platform, which is designed to streamline ordering, provide greater visibility into purchasing activity, and simplify daily operations.
Nantel McDiarmid’s existing Canadian leadership team will remain in place, preserving continuity for employees, customers, and supplier partners.
Odeko’s U.S. customers will gain access to Nantel McDiarmid’s specialty food and beverage portfolio, supplier network, and experience in the Canadian market.
The companies have worked together since 2019, when Nantel McDiarmid began doing business with a U.S.-based specialty distributor that was later acquired by Odeko.
Odeko currently operates warehouses in 18 major U.S. markets and serves additional customers through e-commerce and other distribution solutions.
The company has raised more than $280 million in equity from investors including B Capital, Balius Partners, Era Funds, FJ Labs, KSV, Tiger Global Management, Two Sigma Ventures, and Primary Ventures.
Nantel McDiarmid provides distribution, importing, brokerage, merchandising, warehousing, and transportation services from its Montreal headquarters.
