Odesso transforms healthcare operations through AI-driven automation and helps organizations enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain compliance. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Odesso CEO Zameer Rizvi to learn more about the company.
Zameer Rizvi’s Background
What is Zameer Rizvi’s background? Rizvi said:
“I am the founder and CEO of Odesso, a company that powers some of the most notable players across North America’s healthcare industry today. As CEO and Founder with a tech background, I am also the technical force and architect behind Odesso’s AI-driven, HIPAA-compliant, low-code automation platform, which has been designed to tackle healthcare’s most complex operational challenges.”
“I am deeply committed to industry innovation and focused on providing scalable solutions that solve today’s challenges. I hold over 20 years of institutional and professional experience and have worked at notable companies like Amazon, VMware, Amgen, Citrix, and Blackberry.”
“I am passionate about how emerging technologies can reshape industries and enjoy connecting with others to share insights and explore innovative collaborations that push the boundaries of what’s possible.”
Formation Of Odesso
How did the idea for the company come together? Rizvi shared:
“Before Odesso was formed, our team started out as a contracting company back in 2012. We’d win contracts for building and installing automated software for enterprises. During this time, our team of engineers noticed a lot of gaps in the marketplace and started noting them down. We decided to coalesce these gaps into a software product of our own that did software automation better. Odesso was formed in 2017 with the mission to offer secure AI-driven software automation that is faster, more accurate, smarter, and more economical than our competition.”
Differentiation From The Competition
What makes Odesso unique compared to others in the same market? Rizvi affirmed:
“Odesso is unique in the health-tech market because our technology addresses several market gaps that competitors have overlooked. Let me explain. The majority of companies that exist in the space today, only focus on diagnostic tools or just single-use AI applications whereas we provide a broader range of solutions across many areas. There are currently 10 major areas of healthcare where our platform can be leveraged to deliver better quality care, including Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, X-Ray and CT Scan Imaging, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology.”
“We leverage Generative AI (GenAI) to optimize workflows, manage compliance, and improve on those value-based care (VBC) outcomes.”
“The biggest way we use AI and machine learning to automate and extract clinical data is through our Clinical Data Connector (CDC). It makes managing electronic medical records way smoother, reducing manual errors and operational costs.”
“What really sets us at Odesso apart is how we can work in many facets of healthcare. We can optimize radiology and also chronic disease management, offering scalability and efficiency without heavy infrastructure changes.”
Healthcare Provider Networks Served
What type of healthcare provider networks does Odesso serve? Rizvi noted:
“Odesso actually provides services to some of the largest healthcare provider networks in North America. We have done so over the past several years as a ‘quiet champion.’ Our technology supports organizations that manage huge volumes of patient data and want to transition to more value-based care models. We also partner with platforms like Appian and Athena to expand our reach, meaning we can help everyone from small clinics to large hospital networks. This has been one of the keys to our success, flexibility, and scalability. “
“Our solutions like the Clinical Data Connector can also be quickly implemented without disrupting existing systems. This is really important actually, as we want to allow healthcare providers to get that operational efficiency and reduce administrative burdens without causing headaches.”
Significant Milestones
What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Rizvi cited:
“We wouldn’t be where we are today without the launch of our Clinical Data Connector (CDC) on the Athenahealth Marketplace and Appian AI Marketplace in November 2023, so that is probably one of our most significant milestones. This was a huge step in making AI-driven healthcare more accessible to providers across North America. The CDC automates aspects of EMR and EHR workflows which can reduce turnaround time by up to 70% – while increasing data accuracy.”
Challenges Faced
What challenges have Rizvi and the team faced in building the company? Rizvi acknowledged:
“The Healthcare sector is driven by very different headwinds than any other. Compliance, safety and quality care is top of mind versus profit, expediency and convenience. The challenge in healthcare have been educating our colleagues on the art of what’s possible. There have been monumental advances in software automation technology over the past 24 months, and ensuring our customers and partners are made aware of how to improve patient outcomes is our tallest order.”
Customer Success Stories
After asking Rizvi about customer success stories, he highlighted:
“We’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible healthcare organizations. To start, we should talk about Syneos Health. Syneos Health turned to us to automate their business-critical workflows, and we were able to save them significant time and reduce the manual workload of their team using our expertise in digital automation.”
“Another success story is from our work with the Federal Government’s Medical Programs Office. We, Odesso that is, became a trusted partner very fast. We streamlined their complex IT development projects, synthesized their business requirements into functional systems, and demonstrated measurable progress for them. This all contributed to a more efficient healthcare delivery for patients under their care.”
Future Company Goals
What are some of the company’s future company goals? Rizvi concluded:
“Odesso plans on diversifying the medical specialties it supports. To reiterate Odesso currently supports the specialties of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, X-Ray and CT Scan Imaging, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology To improve patient outcomes faster and better using cutting edge innovation in a myriad of clinical domains.”
