OlsAro has raised €5 million in Seed funding to accelerate commercialization of its SeedAX seed genetics platform for developing climate-resilient cereal crops. The round was led by Industrifonden, with Nordic Foodtech VC joining as co-lead. Existing investors Future Food Fund, PINC, AgFunder, and GU Ventures also participated in the financing.
OlsAro plans to use the new capital to expand partnerships with seed companies, scale international field trials, and strengthen its research and development capabilities, including AI-driven trait discovery.
The company is focused on developing crop traits that can help cereal varieties perform under increasingly challenging growing conditions. Its work has included improving resilience to salinity and heat, and OlsAro said it is now broadening its pipeline to include characteristics such as drought tolerance and nitrogen-use efficiency.
SeedAX is intended to provide a scalable genetics platform that can support breeding programs across different traits and geographic markets. The latest funding marks a move beyond individual product validation toward a broader commercial platform that can be integrated into seed breeding programs.
The company is positioning its technology around challenges facing agricultural producers as changing environmental conditions place additional pressure on crop yields and resource use. Traits such as drought resilience, heat tolerance, and improved nitrogen efficiency could potentially allow breeders to develop cereals suited to a wider range of farming conditions, although individual varieties would still need to undergo the applicable development and validation processes.
OlsAro said the financing will also enable it to expand international testing, giving the company additional data on how its genetics perform across different climates and agricultural environments.
The funding builds on support from OlsAro’s existing venture investors while adding Industrifonden and Nordic Foodtech VC as lead backers for the next stage of the company’s development.
With the round completed, OlsAro plans to focus on converting its research and trait discovery capabilities into a platform that can support commercial seed programs at greater scale.
