By Amit Chowdhry • Feb 18, 2026

O’Melveny & Myers announced that experienced corporate adviser Thomas Asmar has joined the firm’s Silicon Valley office as a partner in its Tax Practice and a member of the Executive Compensation Group, strengthening the firm’s West Coast capabilities and expanding its national bench of corporate practitioners.

Asmar brings nearly 25 years of experience advising public and private companies, as well as private equity and alternative investment funds, on compensation arrangements and benefits matters tied to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financings, and other corporate transactions. He also counsels companies on the design and implementation of executive compensation plans, including employment agreements, equity compensation structures, incentive and deferred compensation plans, severance agreements, and change-in-control arrangements. In addition, he provides guidance on tax, securities, and corporate governance matters across industries such as technology, life sciences, and manufacturing.

He joins the firm from Baker McKenzie, where he was a partner in the Employment & Compensation and Mergers & Acquisitions Practices. His arrival continues O’Melveny’s broader expansion strategy. Since 2023, the firm has added 44 lateral partners, including 27 corporate partners across offices in Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Century City, Newport Beach, New York, Dallas, Houston, Singapore, and London.

O’Melveny chair Bradley J. Butwin said Asmar’s addition enhances the depth and capacity of the firm’s Executive Compensation team, particularly for M&A and private equity clients in Silicon Valley and the broader technology sector.

Asmar earned his J.D. and B.S. from the University of Illinois.
