Ondas Holdings, a provider of private industrial wireless networks, commercial drone technology, and automated data solutions, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Apeiro Motion. This Israeli company is renowned for its expertise in advanced ground robotics, fiber optic communication systems, and mission-critical automation technologies. Following the acquisition, Apeiro will operate under Ondas’ Ondas Autonomous Systems (OAS) business unit. The deal, pending customary closing conditions, is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2025.
Apeiro specializes in developing advanced robotics and automation systems tailored for mission-critical applications in defense, homeland security, and various industrial sectors. Their impressive product lineup features rugged quadrupedal robots, unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), robotic arms, and a state-of-the-art fiber-optic spool designed for secure, radio-independent communications for first-person view (FPV) drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and missile systems. These sophisticated platforms are engineered for reliability and optimal performance in contested and harsh environments, making them ideal for missions involving intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), logistics support, perimeter defense, and inspection tasks. Apeiro’s technologies are already being utilized in the field in collaboration with leading Israeli defense agencies.
The strategic acquisition of Apeiro is poised to significantly bolster the multi-domain autonomy capabilities of Ondas Autonomous Systems, broadening OAS’s product portfolio. This expansion will enable new mission capabilities and facilitate integrated operations across diverse domains of defense and security. Furthermore, the transaction will enhance Ondas’ access to critical global defense markets, including partnerships with the U.S. Department of Defense, NATO, and the European Union, leveraging established relationships and mature product offerings.
Apeiro’s deep expertise in autonomy software, artificial intelligence (AI), vision systems, and compact hardware complements OAS’s core strengths, paving the way for scalable, high-performance solutions. Together, this collaboration will further Ondas’ dual-use strategy, optimizing time-to-market, operational efficiency, and global reach. According to market research firms like Global Market Insights, the total addressable market (TAM) for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) that Apeiro targets surpasses $3 billion.
One of Apeiro’s standout innovations is its proprietary fiber optic spools, which serve as vital enablers for radio-independent communications across FPV drones, UAVs, UGVs, and missile systems. These combat-proven spools are designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern battlefield scenarios, offering high reliability and low signature performance in contested environments.
Being smaller and lighter than competing solutions, Apeiro’s spools significantly enhance mission execution by extending the operational range and survivability of tethered and guided systems. Each unit is customizable in terms of fiber type, diameter, dimensions, and length, manufactured using Western-allied supply chains to comply with stringent defense and homeland security standards. The innovative micro-spools also address the growing demand from the military market for supporting the navigation of FPV drones, UAVs, and missiles.
Under the terms of this agreement, Ondas will acquire 100% of Apeiro for a transaction value of $12 million. The financial consideration will consist of a combination of cash and/or equity at Ondas’ discretion, with Apeiro projected to generate over $12 million in revenue during the 2025 calendar year. This acquisition marks a pivotal step in Ondas’ strategic vision to enhance its capabilities and offerings in the robust defense and automation sectors.
