- OnePlus has confirmed that it is launching a cheaper line of smartphones called OnePlus Nord. These are the details.
OnePlus has announced that it is launching a cheaper line of smartphones called OnePlus Nord. By offering the Nord line of devices at an affordable price, OnePlus is pushing accessibility to more users.
“We are immensely proud of our flagship products and will continue to create more tech-leading flagships for our users. Now we are excited to share the OnePlus experience with even more users around the world through this new product line,” said OnePlus CEO Pete Lau in a statement via The Verge.
When OnePlus first entered the smartphone market, it was offering cheaper devices such as the OnePlus One for $299. Then it started offering higher-end devices like the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. With the Nord line of devices, OnePlus is essentially going back to its roots.
It is unknown what the OnePlus Nord looks like. However, the company revealed that it will be deployed in Europe and India when it launches. In North America, customers will be able to buy devices in the OnePlus Nord line through a highly limited beta program.
Rumor has it that the OnePlus Nord phone will have a 6.55-inch OLED, a Snapdragon 765G processor, 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage. In terms of the camera, it is also rumored to feature a 48-megapixel rear camera along with a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens.
More details will be announced in India during the launch event on July 10.
