Onyx Capital Group announced it has named Billy Sheil President of Onyx Americas as the firm expands internationally again and opens a new office in New York City. Sheil brings 20 years of experience in futures market making, beginning with crude futures and later trading a broader range of commodities. In the role, he will lead the build-out of Onyx’s U.S. operation and focus on developing relationships and partnerships as the company establishes its North American presence.
Sheil said he is excited to join the company and lead the U.S. expansion with integrity while building on strong relationships and partnerships.
Group CEO Greg Newman said Sheil’s experience and market authority immediately strengthen Onyx’s presence in the Americas, calling his oil futures footprint complementary to the firm’s existing strengths. Newman added that the hire “completes the barrel,” positioning Onyx with end-to-end coverage across the energy complex, and said the New York team will make the company fully operational across all three major time zones with an accelerated launch approach from day one.
The company said Sheil sees significant untapped opportunity in North America and will focus on building and expanding Onyx Americas as the organization grows its footprint in the region.
