OpenAI and Dell Technologies announced a partnership focused on bringing Codex to hybrid and on-premises enterprise environments, enabling organizations to deploy AI agents closer to their internal data, systems, and workflows.
Codex has become one of OpenAI’s fastest-growing enterprise products, with more than 4 million developers using it weekly across tasks such as code review, test coverage, incident response, and reasoning across large repositories. The platform is also expanding beyond software development, with enterprises beginning to deploy Codex-powered agents for workflows including gathering context across tools, preparing reports, routing product feedback, qualifying leads, drafting follow-ups, and coordinating work across business systems.
The collaboration is designed to help enterprises securely deploy Codex across hybrid and on-premises environments where critical business data and operational systems already reside, including the Dell AI Data Platform and Dell AI Factory.
As part of the partnership, Codex will connect with the Dell AI Data Platform, allowing enterprises to integrate the AI system with on-premises data infrastructure used to store, organize, and govern enterprise information. This integration is intended to provide Codex with deeper access to internal codebases, documentation, operational knowledge, business systems, and team workflows.
Dell and OpenAI are also exploring ways for Codex, ChatGPT Enterprise, and other API-based solutions to interface with the Dell AI Factory. These integrations are expected to support data preparation, systems-of-record management, testing, and deployment of AI applications within enterprise hybrid and on-premises Dell infrastructure environments.
The companies said the collaboration is intended to provide enterprises with a more practical path to production deployment by enabling organizations to deploy AI agents closer to enterprise data while maintaining the controls and flexibility required for large-scale operations and knowledge work.
The partnership also aims to help customers build, test, automate, analyze, and act using governed enterprise data in Dell environments, supporting broader adoption of AI agents across production workflows.
