Colin Fleming announced that he is joining OpenAI as Chief Marketing Officer, Business, following what he described as “the most meaningful chapter” of his career at ServiceNow.

In a LinkedIn post, Fleming reflected on the rapid acceleration of AI innovation and how businesses are increasingly able to turn ideas into execution at unprecedented speed.

Fleming emphasized that OpenAI is among the few companies “that change what people believe is possible,” noting that the shrinking gap between “what if?” and “it works” is reshaping how organizations build, learn, and deliver value.

He also highlighted the transformative nature of AI-driven workflows, writing that prompts can now become prototypes, analyses, code, research, or entirely new ways of working in a much shorter time frame than before.

Before joining OpenAI, Fleming served as Chief Marketing Officer at ServiceNow and previously held leadership roles at companies including Salesforce and Red Bull.

The announcement generated significant engagement on LinkedIn, with executives and industry leaders commenting on the broader implications of AI-driven execution cycles, operational transformation, and enterprise governance.

KEY QUOTES:

“Some companies build great products. A few change what people believe is possible. OpenAI is one of those companies.”

“A prompt becomes a prototype. A question becomes an analysis. A rough idea becomes code, research, or a new way of working.”

“You can just build things.”

“For businesses, that is a massive shift. Ideas do not have to sit around waiting for permission, budget, headcount, or a six-month roadmap. Teams can move faster. Companies can learn faster. Customers can experience value faster.”
