OpenAI Reportedly Planning $10 Billion JV With Private Equity Firms To Scale Enterprise AI Adoption

OpenAI is in advanced discussions to form a roughly $10 billion joint venture with private equity firms to accelerate enterprise adoption of its artificial intelligence software, according to a Bloomberg report.

The proposed venture, which is expected to include participation from firms such as TPG, Brookfield Asset Management, and Bain Capital, would be structured as a dedicated deployment arm focused on helping large organizations integrate OpenAI’s technology more effectively across their operations. The investors are said to be considering a combined commitment of approximately $4 billion.

The initiative reflects OpenAI’s broader strategy to expand the commercial use of its AI tools, particularly in enterprise settings where demand for automation, data-driven insights, and AI-powered workflows continues to grow. By partnering with private equity firms, OpenAI aims to scale distribution while addressing the significant infrastructure and implementation costs associated with deploying advanced AI systems.

The joint venture would play a key role in bridging the gap between AI development and real-world enterprise adoption, enabling businesses in sectors such as financial services and healthcare to more rapidly deploy AI solutions tailored to their needs.

The discussions come amid increased collaboration between AI developers and private capital providers seeking to capitalize on the sector’s rapid growth. Rival AI firm Anthropic is also reportedly exploring a similar structure backed by private equity to expand the reach of its own technology offerings.

OpenAI has intensified its enterprise push in recent months, including the launch of new tools to help organizations deploy AI agents more efficiently and integrate them into existing workflows.

The talks follow a major recent fundraising round that reportedly valued OpenAI at approximately $840 billion, underscoring strong investor appetite for leading AI platforms amid intensifying global competition.

No official announcement has been made, and the discussions remain ongoing.
