OpenAI announced a strategic content partnership with Grupo Folha and Grupo UOL, marking the company’s first media partnership in Brazil. Under the agreement, journalism from Folha de S.Paulo and UOL will now be integrated into ChatGPT, allowing more than 900 million weekly active users worldwide to access summaries and content based on reporting by the Brazilian media organizations.
The partnership is part of OpenAI’s broader initiative to collaborate with publishers and news organizations across multiple international markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Brazil. OpenAI said the effort is designed to bring trusted journalism into AI-powered experiences while emphasizing attribution, transparency, and links back to original reporting.
According to OpenAI, the agreement will help provide users with more timely, locally relevant, and credible information within ChatGPT while expanding the reach of Folha de S.Paulo and UOL to broader global audiences.
Brazil has become one of the largest global markets for ChatGPT, with OpenAI noting that the country currently has more than 50 million monthly active users and approximately 140 million messages exchanged per day.
As part of the collaboration, Grupo Folha and Grupo UOL will also gain access to OpenAI technologies, including Codex, ChatGPT Enterprise, and the OpenAI API. The companies plan to explore how AI can support journalism workflows, business operations, product innovation, and reader experiences.
