OpenGate Capital has completed the sale of ScioTeq, a provider of ruggedized display and mission-critical visualization systems for aviation and defense applications, to the aerospace and defense fund of alternative asset manager Tikehau Capital. OpenGate said it will retain a meaningful minority position and continue supporting ScioTeq as it enters its next growth phase.
ScioTeq, which has a 40-year operating history, designs and manufactures advanced visualization and computing solutions used in aviation, defense, and air traffic control environments. The company operates sales, engineering, and manufacturing sites globally and focuses on high-performance display systems and related electronics designed for precision, reliability, and long-term support.
OpenGate acquired ScioTeq from TransDigm Group in 2021 via a corporate carve-out and said it pursued a set of strategic initiatives during its ownership, including completing the separation and establishing Treality as an independent operating entity, strengthening the leadership team through the addition of a CEO and a Group Sales Director, expanding the global sales organization into new geographies, and advancing MicroLED and Mini LED display technologies targeted at next-generation military use cases.
With the change in ownership, ScioTeq expects to leverage Tikehau Capital’s sector relationships and expertise to pursue new markets and broaden its product portfolio, while continuing to benefit from OpenGate’s involvement as a minority partner.
