OPmobility has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of Hyundai Mobis’ automotive lighting business for an enterprise value of ₩600 billion (approximately $442 million), or approximately €390 million (about $442 million). The transaction is intended to significantly expand OPmobility’s lighting operations and strengthen its presence across Asia, North America, and Europe.
Hyundai Mobis’ lighting business generated approximately ₩2.5 trillion (about $1.84 billion), or €1.6 billion (approximately $1.81 billion), in 2025 revenue and produced a positive operating margin. The business operates five manufacturing plants across South Korea, China, Mexico, and the Czech Republic.
Adding the operation will increase OPmobility’s scale, technology base, global manufacturing footprint, and customer reach in automotive lighting.
The acquisition will also deepen OPmobility’s relationship with Hyundai and Kia while broadening the company’s ability to supply integrated exterior systems and lighting technologies to global automakers.
OPmobility said the deal supports its strategy around technological leadership, geographic expansion, and customer diversification. The company does not expect the transaction to materially affect its deleveraging strategy on a pro forma basis.
Closing is targeted for the second half of 2027, subject to antitrust clearances and other customary regulatory approvals.
OPmobility generated €11.5 billion (approximately $13.03 billion) in economic revenue in 2025 and operates 152 plants and 40 research and development centers globally, supported by approximately 38,100 employees.
