Optimus Energy Solutions (OES), a provider of electric vehicle charging and renewable energy solutions, announced the acquisition of a major electric vehicle fast-charging network in South Carolina.
The network, which was originally developed through a Duke Energy pilot program approved by the South Carolina Public Service Commission, includes 52 DC fast-charging stations across 26 locations throughout the state. Many of the charging stations are located in rural communities and along major travel corridors.
As Duke Energy’s pilot program reached its planned conclusion, Optimus Energy Solutions acquired the infrastructure and assumed responsibility for its long-term operation under private ownership. During a two-week transition process, the charging stations were migrated to the ChargePoint network to improve accessibility and visibility for electric vehicle drivers.
The company said it plans to operate and maintain the network for decades as electric vehicle adoption continues to expand throughout the Southeast. South Carolina currently has more than 20,000 registered EVs.
The acquisition aligns with Optimus Energy Solutions’ broader strategy of expanding EV charging infrastructure and energy production capabilities across the Southeast. Headquartered in Central Florida, the company has spent nearly a decade developing and supporting EV charging and renewable energy projects across Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, and the Carolinas.
Founded to increase access to renewable energy and EV charging solutions, Optimus Energy Solutions specializes in EV charging infrastructure with an emphasis on long-term maintenance and reliability, while also providing commercial, municipal, and residential solar photovoltaic solutions.
KEY QUOTES:
