Orange And Morrison Announce Plans To Create A Data Center JV To Strengthen Europe’s Digital Sovereignty

Orange and global infrastructure investor Morrison have entered into an exclusivity agreement to create a jointly controlled data center company in France. The 50/50 joint venture targets capacity of 400 MW, nearly ten times Orange’s current capacity, supported by a €3 billion investment.

Orange would contribute five major data centers across four campuses in France: Chevilly-Larue, Aubervilliers, Chartres, and Val-de-Reuil. Morrison would bring its infrastructure investment track record and commit equity through its global value-add strategy. The platform would be supported by an investment program leveraging Orange’s existing assets, Morrison’s equity contribution, and debt.

Orange Business would be expected to be the exclusive partner for the distribution of colocation and hosting offers for large enterprises, small and medium businesses, and public sector entities. Orange would retain operational control over the areas dedicated to its own operations within the joint venture’s data centers.

The transaction is expected to be signed by the end of 2026, subject to consultation with employee representative bodies and regulatory approvals. Closing is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
