ORBIS announced it has acquired Robinson Industries to expand its manufacturing footprint and accelerate delivery of reusable, sustainable packaging solutions across global supply chains.
Robinson will transition to the ORBIS brand, and ORBIS said the combination is intended to strengthen its ability to design and deliver innovative packaging products while providing a seamless experience for existing customers.
Robinson, founded in the 1940s and headquartered in Coleman, Michigan, adds thermoforming and materials capabilities including single and twin-sheet thermoforming, sheet extrusion, and structural foam injection molding. ORBIS said Robinson’s portfolio includes custom pallets, lids, and trays primarily for automotive packaging, with additional exposure to industrial, agricultural, and retail supply chain markets.
The acquisition also includes two Robinson manufacturing facilities in Coleman, which ORBIS said will add production capacity and provide proximity to the Detroit automotive hub, and will bring roughly 100 employees to ORBIS as part of the transaction.
ORBIS said customers will gain access to streamlined end-to-end thermoforming processes intended to support faster design and prototyping, improved quality control, and expanded innovation across ORBIS’ broader packaging portfolio. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
