Oridian Capital Partners: Private Equity Firm Rebrands From HCI Equity Partners

By Amit Chowdhry • Apr 4, 2026

Lower middle market private equity firm HCI Equity Partners has officially rebranded as Oridian Capital Partners, marking a formal evolution of a leadership transition and strategic shift that took place prior to 2018.

The firm emphasized that the rebrand reflects its current identity rather than the creation of a new organization. The investment team, strategy, and long-standing focus areas remain unchanged, with the new name intended to better align with how the firm has operated in recent years.

Oridian Capital Partners continues to focus on partnering with founder-owned businesses across service, distribution, and manufacturing sectors in North America. The firm’s approach centers on identifying platform investments in large, fragmented markets and driving growth through acquisitions and operational improvements.

The name “Oridian” combines the concepts of “origin” and “meridian,” symbolizing the firm’s dual focus on honoring the foundational strength of the businesses it partners with while guiding them through transformational growth.

The leadership team includes Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer Doug McCormick, Operating Partner Bob Hund, Partner Scott Gibaratz, and Managing Directors Tim Frend, Nate Novak, and Brendon Biddle. The group has worked together for an average of 18 years.

The firm’s strategy, consistently deployed since 2018, is built on four key pillars: identifying entry points in stable, fragmented markets, executing M&A-driven growth strategies, enhancing operational performance and integration, and focusing on durable business models where sector expertise provides a competitive advantage.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Oridian Capital Partners positions the rebrand as a reflection of its established foundation and future trajectory, reinforcing its commitment to long-term value creation in lower middle market businesses.

KEY QUOTE:

“Oridian is a combination of two words — origin and meridian — chosen to reflect both our strategy and the values we uphold as partners. Origin honors the businesses we partner with — their history, their identity, and the strong foundation from which our shared journey begins. Meridian represents the vision, expertise, and guiding principles we bring to drive transformational growth. Importantly, this is not a new firm. Our team and commitment to acting with integrity while relentlessly pursuing excellence remain unchanged.”
