ŌURA Announces Hormonal Birth Control Support And Menopause Insights

ŌURA, maker of the world’s leading smart ring, has announced two new experiences designed to help women navigate the hormonal shifts that shape most of their lives: Hormonal Birth Control support and Menopause Insights. The features, rolling out globally beginning May 6, mark the company’s most significant expansion into hormonal health and reflect a broader commitment to building science-backed tools for life stages that have long been underserved by both medicine and technology.

The Hormonal Birth Control feature adapts Oura’s existing Cycle Insights for members using pills, patches, IUDs, implants, and other hormonal methods — offering a personalized window into how contraception may influence their unique biological baseline over time. Members can log their birth control method from more than 20 unique combinations, track bleeding and symptoms, and access tailored education connecting method choice to real-world physiological experiences. In the United States, Oura is partnering with Twentyeight Health, a provider-led women’s healthcare platform, allowing members to connect with licensed clinicians for same-day appointments, contraceptive counseling, and home delivery of prescriptions.

On the menopause front, Oura is introducing its Menopause Insights experience, anchored by the proprietary Menopause Impact Scale — a research-driven clinical questionnaire developed by Oura’s clinical and science teams that measures the impact of perimenopause across 22 symptoms. The tool replaces a decades-old legacy assessment developed from a small, clinic-based sample, offering instead a personalized dashboard that tracks symptoms over time and correlates them with objective biometric data, including heart rate variability and sleep patterns. Members can save and share results with clinicians to support more informed treatment conversations.

These features build on Oura’s growing suite of women’s health capabilities, which already includes Cycle Insights, Fertile Window, Pregnancy Insights, and a proprietary women’s health AI model. Through partnerships with Maven, Progyny and Twentyeight Health, the company is also enabling clinicians to incorporate Oura data directly into real-world care plans. Together, these efforts move Oura toward what it describes as an adaptive women’s health companion that can evolve through every hormonal life stage.

KEY QUOTES:

“Hormonal health has been treated as an afterthought in both medicine and technology for decades. When more than half of women in their reproductive years are using contraception and more than a billion women are moving through perimenopause and menopause, asking them to rely on trial and error, vague reassurance, or generic symptom trackers simply isn’t good enough.”

“By connecting hormonal context to the biometric data Oura tracks, we’re giving women visibility, language, and evidence they’ve never had at this scale.”

Holly Shelton, Chief Product Officer, ŌURA

“Too often, women are left to piece together symptoms from search results, social media, and brief check-ins that don’t capture the full picture of their health — especially in perimenopause. Menopause Insights brings each member’s long-term biometric patterns together with what they’re experiencing day to day. That gives women and their clinicians a shared, clearer view of what’s actually changing — so how they feel and what their data shows is in the same conversation.”
