OurPetPolicy: $8 Million Series A Raised To Automate Pet And ESA Management for U.S. Rental Housing

OurPetPolicy, a Boise-based software company focused on pet and emotional support animal (ESA) management for rental housing, has raised an $8 million Series A round led by RET Ventures, with participation from StageDotO and Capital Eleven.

Founded in 2021 by brothers Logan and Cody Miller, OurPetPolicy positions its product as an end-to-end platform for property operators to manage resident pets while also handling ESA verification in an effort to reduce fraud exposure and Fair Housing compliance risk. The company says the platform acts as a centralized system of record for animal-related data across multifamily, single-family rental, and manufactured housing portfolios.

The company is pitching the raise against what it describes as rising operational complexity for operators, driven by high pet ownership rates and a sharp increase in assistance animal requests. OurPetPolicy cited data it says shows 62% of U.S. adults own pets and assistance animal requests have increased more than 300% in recent years. It also cited “2025 data” indicating 52% of ESA requests did not meet applicable state and federal guidelines, which it says can contribute to lost pet-fee revenue and create meaningful Fair Housing liability exposure for housing providers.

OurPetPolicy’s ESA verification workflow includes direct authentication with healthcare providers and processes it says are aligned with HUD and Fair Housing requirements. The company also said it assumes liability for the verification determination by guaranteeing the verification meets state and federal requirements, with the goal of shifting compliance risk away from property operators.

Beyond verification, the platform is designed to consolidate day-to-day pet operations, including pet profiles, vaccination documentation and reminders, complaint and incident tracking, and search tools that allow staff to identify animals by attributes such as breed, color, weight, or unit location. The company said it interfaces directly with residents to collect animal information and documentation, reducing manual workload for onsite teams while enforcing consistent portfolio-wide policies.

OurPetPolicy said it has gained traction among multifamily owners and operators, including large property management companies, and that customers report recovered revenue tied to fraudulent ESA claims alongside operational efficiency improvements, reduced liability risk, and clearer resident communications.

The company plans to use the new capital to expand integrations with property management systems, scale go-to-market hiring, and advance product development, including additional fraud detection capabilities and broader workflow automation.

KEY QUOTES:

“The rental housing industry has modernized everything from tech-enabled self-tours to near-instant background checks, yet pet management has remained trapped in the spreadsheet era. With the majority of U.S. adults now owning a pet and requests for assistance animals rising exponentially, tools like OurPetPolicy are no longer a ‘nice-to-have,’ but essential to operational efficiency. RET’s partnership accelerates our mission to make pet management as seamless, predictable, and integrated as paying rent online, and we look forward to continuing to expand and refine our platform with their support.”

Logan Miller, Co-Founder, OurPetPolicy

“Pet management and ESA verification may seem like a small piece of property operations, but it’s a huge source of headaches for owners and managers. OurPetPolicy delivers a platform that simplifies these processes, reduces risk, and brings real operational impact. That combination makes it a smart solution for the industry and an ideal investment opportunity for RET.”
