Overmatch Ventures: $250 Million Raised For Deep Tech, Defense And Space Fund II

Overmatch Ventures has raised an oversubscribed $250 million second fund, expanding its strategy of investing in early-stage deep tech, defense, and space companies. The new fund follows the firm’s $70 million debut vehicle, which has already backed companies such as xAI, Saronic, CHAOS Industries, Nominal, Impulse Space, and Armada AI.

Based in Austin, the firm focuses on sectors it views as critical to the global “superpower race,” backing founders developing technologies tied to national security, industrial capacity, and advanced innovation. Since its inception, Overmatch has concentrated exclusively on these areas, positioning itself as a specialized investor at the intersection of venture capital and defense technology.

Fund II will allow the firm to write larger initial checks, lead investment rounds, and build a concentrated portfolio of around 25 core companies at the Seed and Series A stages. The firm also plans to continue supporting portfolio companies beyond early funding through special purpose vehicles, providing follow-on capital through later stages including Series B and beyond.

Overmatch brings an operator-driven approach, led by general partners Evan Loomis, Jordan Blashek, and Morgan Hitzig, who collectively bring experience as entrepreneurs, military veterans, and company builders. The firm emphasizes not just capital, but also access to government and defense networks, along with operational guidance in navigating procurement systems, regulatory complexity, and global markets.

The fund is backed by a broad base of investors including institutional allocators, family offices, and strategic partners. Through its co-investment model, Overmatch has already deployed more than $140 million alongside its first fund, helping grow its total assets under management to over $500 million.

Beyond capital deployment, the firm also plays a role in connecting founders with government stakeholders through initiatives such as Endless Frontiers and the Demand Signal Forum, aiming to accelerate the path from innovation to real-world deployment.

KEY QUOTES:

“We believe founders are the heroes of this story. They are the ones pushing into new frontiers and building the technologies that will define America’s future. Our job is to give them the capital and support to pursue the nearly impossible. Fund II allows us to back more founders earlier, and to continue supporting them as they scale.”

Evan Loomis, General Partner, Overmatch Ventures

“The nation that moves first to secure the technological high ground will lock in advantages that compound for decades, This is a defining race, and America has to win. We are proud to back founders building in service of that mission, and grateful to partner with LPs who share our sense of urgency.”

Jordan Blashek, General Partner, Overmatch Ventures

“America has won every major technological race for the past century, and we’ll win this one too. But it won’t happen by accident. It takes founders with courage, capital with conviction, and a government willing to move. That alignment is happening now, and the teams we back are at the center of it.”
