Owaves announced that Jason Knapp has joined the company as Chief Product and AI Officer. Owaves is a circadian-health company behind BodyClock AI, a platform for precision lifestyle medicine.
Knapp will lead product and AI for BodyClock AI as Owaves advances its work in digital lifestyle medicine and AI-driven health guidance.
He brings more than two decades of experience building consumer products and the data and AI platforms behind them.
Knapp co-invented real-time bidding, which became foundational to programmatic advertising and is reflected in several U.S. patents.
He also built ad and monetization platforms that were acquired by News Corp and Time Inc.
As Chief Product Officer at Viant, Knapp led the relaunch of Myspace, which tripled its user base. He later served as Vice President of Digital Products at Viasat.
Across his career, Knapp has shipped products with partners including Google, Facebook, Apple, and Amazon.
He holds an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and has been a longtime mentor at EvoNexus, the San Diego technology incubator where he first connected with Owaves.
Knapp began working with Owaves earlier this year and is now taking on an expanded leadership role.
Owaves said his near-term focus will be the user experience around the BodyClock Score, a daily 0-to-100 measure that brings sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships, and mindfulness into one number by evaluating the full day through time.
The company said Knapp will also help build learning loops and AI coaching features that explain why a day scored high or low and help users close the gap between their planned day and their lived day.
The appointment signals a new phase for Owaves as it invests in AI and product development to bring precision lifestyle medicine to a larger audience.
Owaves has established research collaborations with Scripps Research and UC San Diego and has participated in the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program.
The company’s roadmap also includes community features such as My Moai and expanded support for teams and institutions using BodyClock AI.
