Paddletek Group announced the acquisition of the performance pickleball paddle company PIKKL and significantly expanded its roster of professional athletes with the signings of JW Johnson, Jorja Johnson, Julie Johnson, and Hurricane Tyra Black.

The acquisition strengthens Paddletek’s growing portfolio of pickleball brands, which already includes Paddletek, ProXR, and Yobow. The company said it had been evaluating PIKKL’s technology and product innovation as part of a broader strategy to expand its presence in the rapidly growing pickleball equipment market.

Founded by Mike Strommen and Dan Martinson, PIKKL built its reputation by developing professional-grade pickleball paddles focused on performance, technology, and community engagement. Following the acquisition, Strommen and Martinson will remain involved with the business, working alongside Paddletek to continue developing next-generation paddle technologies.

The deal also brings PIKKL’s innovations into Paddletek’s existing lineup, which includes the Bantam and Tempest paddle families as well as the recently launched Honeyfoam platform.

At the same time, Paddletek strengthened Team Paddletek by signing some of pickleball’s biggest names. JW Johnson and Jorja Johnson said their decision came after an extensive search for paddle technology that best fit their playing style and long-term goals, ultimately aligning with Paddletek’s focus on innovation and competitive performance.

The announcement reflects Paddletek’s broader strategy of combining product innovation, athlete partnerships, and brand acquisitions as pickleball continues its rapid global expansion.

Founded in 2010, Paddletek Group manufactures high-performance pickleball paddles and padel rackets and sponsors organizations including Major League Pickleball, the Professional Pickleball Association, the US Open Pickleball Championships, and the USAP Nationals. The company is backed by private equity firm Thirty-5 Capital.
