TRC Companies, a global professional services firm providing integrated strategy, consulting, engineering and applied technologies in support of the energy transition, announced it has acquired Garanzuay Consulting, an advisory and implementation consulting firm with a focus on the systems and service providers used by transmission system operators, utilities, energy market operators and their participants.

Visa announced it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Featurespace, a developer of real-time artificial intelligence (AI) payments protection technology that prevents and mitigates payment fraud and financial crime risks. The acquisition of Featurespace will complement and strengthen Visa’s portfolio of fraud detection and risk-scoring solutions, which are used by clients around the world to grow and protect their businesses.

Focus Financial Partners - a leading partnership of fiduciary wealth management and related financial services firms - announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement under which Custom Portfolio Group (CPG) will formally join Focus partner firm Transform Wealth.

Avantax—a unique community within Cetera Holdings and a leader in tax-focused financial planning and wealth management—announced it acquired SEP Financial Services. The company was founded by veteran independent financial advisor Stephen E. Plain, who has been affiliated with Avantax for 25 years.

Graco announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Corob for €230 million, subject to customary adjustments, with up to €30 million in additional contingent consideration. This deal is expected to close in Graco’s fiscal fourth quarter following the satisfaction of customary closing conditions. And Corob had revenue of €110 million in 2023.

Ares Management announced that one of its subsidiaries has entered into a definitive agreement to buy 100% of Walton Street Capital Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V. and certain of its affiliates (“Walton Street Mexico”), a leading real estate asset management platform focused primarily on the industrial sector with US$2.1 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2024, from Walton Street Capital.

Crisp announced it has closed a $72M Series B equity round, including $17 million from new strategic investors including Wellington Management, Toshiba Corporation, DNX, Cox, and Prologis. This funding brings the total equity raised by Crisp to $97 million since inception.

Cyclic Materials, the advanced recycling company creating a circular supply chain for rare earth elements (REEs) and other critical materials, announced it has closed an oversubscribed $53 million Series B equity round.

Costanoa Ventures, a boutique early-stage venture capital firm, announced the successful closing of two new funds: Costanoa Fund V, a $275 million early-stage fund, and Opportunity Fund III, a $119 million fund for investing in later rounds of its early-stage winners. With these additions, the firm’s total assets under management now exceed $2 billion.

Bot Auto, a pioneering company in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology based in Houston, Texas, announced the completion of its Pre-A funding round, which was oversubscribed, raising $20 million. Brightway Future Capital, Cherubic Ventures, EnvisionX Capital, First Star Ventures, Linear Capital, M31 Capital, Taihill Venture, Uphonest Capital, and Welight Capital led the funding round.

Syntiant, a leader in low-power edge AI deployments, announced it signed a definitive agreement to acquire certain assets of Knowles Corporation’s Consumer MEMS Microphones (CMM) business. Syntiant will pay $150 million in cash and stock for Knowles’ CMM business, which generated revenues of $256 million in FY 2023 and $136 million in the first half of 2024. Structural Capital and Boardman Bay Capital Management are leading this financing.

Avid Ventures announced launching its second fund, an $87 million early-stage vehicle that brings the total capital raised since inception to over $165 million. Avid Fund II is committed to backing exceptional founders who are building transformative software and fintech companies at the Seed through Series B stages. Avid Fund II  has completed five initial investments in various sectors: payments, insurance, gaming, and data analytics.

Tetrix, a company whose mission is to empower capital allocators with AI-based insights to navigate alternative investments, announced it has raised a $5 million seed round led by Innovation Endeavors with participation from prominent angels from Blackrock, CPPIB, SoftBank, Lending Club, and Plaid.

Observe—a SaaS observability company reinventing how machine-generated data is stored, managed, and analyzed—announced Project Voyager, its most significant product update yet. The company also announced the closing of $145 million in Series B funding, with the most recent investments by Evolution Equity Partners and Madrona Ventures. Madrona Managing Director Soma Somasegar also joins Observe's board of directors, effective immediately.

DC Capital Partners Management, a sector-focused private equity firm that invests in middle-market Government and Engineering companies, announced that it has made a control investment in PK Companies Group. PK's founders have reinvested equity as part of this deal.

Veteran Ventures Capital (VVC), a VC firm focused on investing in dual-use national security technology businesses led by veteran entrepreneurs and leaders, announced a strategic investment in Agile Space Industries, a leading innovator of in-space chemical propulsion technologies. And Agile specializes in developing advanced chemical propulsion systems, including thrusters and rocket engines for satellites and spacecraft, which are designed, 3D printed, and tested all under one roof.

Hartree Partners announced the closing of its core senior secured borrowing base revolving credit facility on September 4, 2024, totaling $4.1 billion. And the $4.1 billion credit facility, comprised of a $2.05 billion two-year tranche and a $2.05 billion three-year tranche, also includes an accordion feature to increase the facility to $4.6 billion to support the company’s liquidity needs and future growth. A diverse group of 22 banks participated in the facility, including six new banks.

Phare Bio - along with the Collins Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard's Wyss Institute - announced that they have been awarded up to $27 million in funding from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to enhance their generative artificial intelligence (AI) discovery platform and produce novel classes of antibiotics. And with mounting concern around the AMR crisis, there is an urgent need for new antibiotics that have the potential to save millions of lives.

Freight brokers often deal with two significant challenges when moving freight by truck: fragmentation and fraud. And trucking is one of the most fragmented industries in the U.S., with millions of trucks crisscrossing the nation's highways daily. Securing the right truck at the right time continues to be a legacy problem, which has been compounded in recent years by the sharp rise in fraud and theft from posting loads on public load boards. Virginia-based GenLogs is addressing these issues by developing a nationwide network of roadside sensors that passively collect data on truck movements and extract key details like the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and motor carrier (MC) numbers, equipment types, and logos, all in real time.

Mevo, a leading digital prescription platform in Brazil, announced it has raised $19 million USD ($110 million BRL) in new venture funding. And Mevo enables patients to easily access their prescriptions and purchase medications through a user-friendly mobile interface. This funding round was led by Matrix, with participation from Jefferson River Capital (former Blackstone President and current Costco chairman, Tony James’ family office).
