PagerDuty has appointed Alkami Technology CEO Alex Shootman to its Board of Directors, effective July 14, 2026. Shootman brings more than 25 years of experience leading and scaling enterprise software companies. PagerDuty said his background in building software-as-a-service businesses, expanding global operations and guiding companies through major strategic transactions will support its continued push into the enterprise market.

The company also announced that Elena Gomez has resigned from the Board to focus on her responsibilities as President and Chief Financial Officer of Toast.

Gomez served on PagerDuty’s Board for nearly eight years and helped oversee the company’s development from an early-stage technology business into a publicly traded enterprise software provider.

Shootman currently serves as CEO and a director of Alkami Technology, a provider of cloud-based digital banking technology for financial institutions.

Before joining Alkami, Shootman served as President and CEO of Workfront from 2016 until Adobe acquired the company for $1.5 billion in 2020.

At Workfront, he helped scale the company’s enterprise work management platform and expand its position among large corporate customers before completing the sale to Adobe.

Shootman previously served as President of Worldwide Field Operations at Apptio during a period of significant international expansion.

He was also President of Eloqua, where he helped establish the marketing automation software category, guided the company through its initial public offering in 2012 and oversaw its subsequent $900 million acquisition by Oracle.

Earlier in his career, Shootman held executive leadership roles at IBM and BMC Software.

PagerDuty believes his experience scaling enterprise platforms is directly relevant as the company seeks to increase adoption of its AI-first operations management products among large organizations.

PagerDuty provides software that helps companies detect, diagnose and resolve technology disruptions. Its platform is used to coordinate incident response, automate operational workflows and reduce the time required to restore digital services.

The PagerDuty Operations Cloud acts as a central control platform for digital operations teams, connecting information and workflows from more than 750 integrations.

The company’s technology is designed to automatically identify operational issues, provide context to teams and systems and initiate workflows that can help prevent disruptions from becoming larger incidents.

PagerDuty is also expanding the use of AI agents and automated remediation within its platform.

As businesses operate increasingly complex technology environments, PagerDuty believes enterprises require systems that can coordinate people, software and automated agents throughout the incident management lifecycle.

The company said Shootman’s understanding of mission-critical enterprise software, real-time availability and automation will help guide this strategy.

PagerDuty is focused on automating and orchestrating incident management from initial detection through diagnosis, response and resolution.

The company’s platform is used by approximately two-thirds of Fortune 100 companies and nearly half of the Fortune 500.

Shootman’s appointment strengthens the Board’s enterprise software and operating experience as PagerDuty works to increase customer adoption and build long-term shareholder value.
