Chinese electronics company TCL has announced that it has released a new Android-based Palm Phone for $350. This is the same Palm brand you may remember was associated with the Palm Pilot and webOS, which moved from HP to LG to TCL.

Interestingly, the new Palm phone has some powerful hardware specifications including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset and 3GB RAM. The Palm Phone also has 32GB of storage built-in and inside is an 800 mAh battery, which facilitates about a day of use. And it ships with the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with a personalized user interface. Plus the Palm Phone has an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

In terms of the design, the new Palm Phone has a 3.3-inch LCD (445ppi) display is also covered in Gorilla Glass and aluminum. The front-facing camera is 8 megapixels and on the back is a 12-megapixel rear camera. The Palm Phone is available in Titanium and Gold options. And the Palm Phone has a retail price of $349.99 exclusively through Verizon starting in November.

What makes the distribution of the Palm Phone unique is that it is being pitched as a companion device. So Verizon customers can purchase it as an add-on for their current device. Generally, wearables like smartwatches are sold as add-ons for devices.

The phone number of the Palm Phone will be shared with your other devices via Verizon NumberSync. This way you can carry around a smaller device while you are on the go. And TCL is also selling Palm Phone cases designed with NBA basketball star Stephen Curry.
