- Palo Alto Networks has announced that it is acquiring container security company Twistlock and serverless security company PureSec
- The terms for Twistlock is approximately $410 million in cash and the deal for PureSec was undisclosed
Global cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks Inc has announced that it is acquiring container security company Twistlock and serverless security company PureSec. Palo Alto Networks said that these proposed acquisitions will further advance the company’s ability to offer the most complete and comprehensive cloud security suite in all the critical areas of cloud security.
Palo Alto’s Prisma platform is used by about 9,000 customers worldwide and it helps enable a secure journey to the cloud by providing organizations with visibility across the whole cloud environment while consistently governing access, protecting data, and securing applications regardless of their locations.
By integrating Twistlock and PureSec to the Prisma cloud security suite, Palo Alto Networks is able to be uniquely positioned to secure today’s modern applications through the whole life cycle and it enables organizations to deliver innovations that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
“Today marks another exciting step forward in our commitment to offering our customers the industry’s most complete cloud security offering. We believe that our acquisition of these leading companies will significantly enhance our ability to be the cybersecurity partner of choice for our customers, while expanding our capabilities and strengthening our Prisma cloud security strategy,” said Palo Alto Networks chairman and CEO Nikesh Arora.
Twistlock Deal
Palo Alto Networks revealed it would pay approximately $410 million in cash (subject to adjustments) for Twistlock. Twistlock combines vulnerability management, compliance, and runtime defense for cloud-native applications and workloads. And the company serves over 290 customers, of which more than a quarter are on the Fortune 100 list. Twistlock co-founders, Ben Bernstein (CEO), and Dima Stopel are joining Palo Alto Networks as the deal closes.
“Our vision for a cloud-native security platform is a natural fit with Palo Alto Networks cloud strategy. We have liked-minded teams, and we’re looking forward to accelerating our ability to serve customers and partners on their cloud-native journey together,” added Bernstein.
PureSec Deal
PureSec is considered a technology visionary in serverless security as it enables its customers to build and maintain secure and reliable serverless applications. And the company provides end-to-end security for serverless functions that cover vulnerability management, access permissions, and runtime threats. In terms of accolades, PureSec was recently recognized as a Gartner Cool Vendor in April 2019. PureSec co-founders Shaked Zin (CEO), Ory Segal, and Avi Shulman are joining Palo Alto Networks as the deal closes. The terms of this deal were undisclosed.
“PureSec’s vision has always been to ensure that all serverless applications will be secured at the very highest level. By joining forces with Palo Alto Networks, we will undoubtedly be able to make that a reality much faster. We are humbled and excited about this opportunity,” explained Zin.
Both of these acquisitions are expected to close in Palo Alto Networks fiscal fourth quarter and it is subject to the satisfaction of regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
