Pape-Dawson announced it has acquired BHC, a national engineering and surveying firm headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, as part of a strategic move to establish a new Midwest Region and expand its national footprint. The acquisition brings together Pape-Dawson’s engineering and consulting capabilities with BHC’s decades of experience serving public- and private-sector clients across the United States.
Founded more than three decades ago by Kevin Honomichl, Bill Brungardt, and Matt Brungardt, BHC initially focused on telecommunications engineering. The firm played a role in delivering critical connectivity and data infrastructure projects nationwide. Over the past twenty years, the company has broadened its service offerings to include public works, development, surveying, construction, and landscape architecture.
The addition of BHC strengthens Pape-Dawson’s presence in the Midwest and builds on its growing footprint in the Kansas City market. The firm previously expanded in the region by acquiring aviation planning firm Coffman Associates in 2025. With the latest transaction, Kansas City will serve as the home base for the company’s newly formed Midwest Region.
According to the companies, the move reflects Pape-Dawson’s broader growth strategy focused on expanding its multidisciplinary engineering services across the United States while continuing to invest in regional talent and client relationships. BHC’s leadership team and employees will remain based in the Kansas City area, continuing to support existing clients while gaining access to Pape-Dawson’s broader network, technology resources, and expanded service capabilities.
Founded in 1965, Pape-Dawson provides civil and structural engineering, environmental services, landscape architecture, planning, and surveying for development and infrastructure projects. Its workforce includes engineers, surveyors, technicians, planners, environmental specialists, biologists, and construction management professionals who support projects aimed at improving economic opportunity and quality of life in the communities they serve.
BHC has built a reputation around client service and collaborative project delivery across telecom, development, and public infrastructure projects nationwide. The firm’s integration into Pape-Dawson is expected to strengthen service capabilities and support continued growth across the Midwest.
