PAR Excellence Systems has acquired Terso Solutions from Promega Corporation, combining two healthcare inventory technology platforms to provide hospitals with a more integrated system for tracking medical supplies, tissue, implants and other high-value products. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Terso develops ultra-high-frequency RFID technology specifically for healthcare environments.
Its products include RFID-enabled enclosures, open-air readers and cloud software that allow hospitals and manufacturers to monitor inventory in real time.
The company has installed thousands of enclosures worldwide and serves hundreds of hospitals, health systems and integrated delivery networks, including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
PAR and Terso have already worked together for years.
Hundreds of PAR customers currently connect Terso RFID enclosures with PAR’s TrackCore tissue and implant tracking software.
The acquisition allows the companies to integrate those systems more deeply while bringing additional RFID functionality into PAR’s broader platform.
PAR said the combined organization serves approximately 1,700 hospitals, representing nearly 30% of roughly 6,000 hospitals across the United States.
Its expanded product portfolio will include weight-based inventory technology, RFID enclosures, software and an AI-enabled camera vision product that is expected to launch in the future.
The strategy is designed to give hospitals one platform for managing inventory across departments rather than relying on multiple disconnected point solutions.
PAR sees the combination as particularly relevant as hospitals face pressure to lower costs, reduce waste, improve product security and maintain regulatory compliance.
