Paul Hastings announced that Brian C. Miner has joined the firm as a partner in New York. Miner joins from Dechert and advises private equity firms on domestic and international transactions. His work spans sectors including asset management, insurance, life sciences and healthcare, energy, and manufacturing.
His experience includes traditional upper-middle-market buyouts, asset manager M&A, GP stake transactions, and other minority and control investments in private equity and asset management firms.
Miner has represented clients including Lovell Minnick, Industry Ventures, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, LLR Partners, Warner Pacific Insurance Services, Newport Specialty Partners, APCO Holdings, Scientific Games, and Suede.
His representative matters include advising Industry Ventures on its minority GP stake investment from Petershill and subsequent sale to Goldman Sachs for up to $965 million. He also represented HPS Investment Partners in its minority GP stake investment by Blue Owl Capital and Lovell Minnick in the formation of Newport Specialty Partners, and in its growth investment in Complex Coverage.
Miner is the eighth private equity partner to join Paul Hastings in the past eight months across New York, Boston, and London.
Recent additions supporting private equity clients include a four-partner private equity and real estate team in London, investment funds lawyer Amanda Persaud in New York, private equity partner Ferish Patel in London, Anthony Cahill in New York, Jim Curley in Boston, and Christopher Zochowski and Bradley Noojin in Washington, D.C.
Paul Hastings said Miner joins more than 25 partners added to its global private equity and M&A platform over the past two years.
The firm said its private equity practice advanced 25 spots year over year in Bloomberg’s Q1 2026 league tables for U.S. private equity by volume and ranked in the top 15 by deal count for The Deal’s private equity announced deals in 2025.
Paul Hastings’ private equity practice works with asset managers including Apollo, Ares, Atlas, Blackstone, Brookfield, Carlyle, EQT, Fortress, Francisco Partners, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Great Hill, H.I.G., KKR, Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, Sixth Street Partners, Symphony Technology Group, and TPG.
