PAXAFE has appointed Mark Talens as Chief Commercial Officer as the company works to expand adoption of its artificial intelligence-powered decision intelligence and compliance platform for pharmaceutical and life sciences supply chains.
Talens will lead PAXAFE’s global sales, customer delivery, support and partnership organizations. His responsibilities will include scaling revenue, strengthening customer relationships, and expanding the company’s presence across the pharmaceutical, life sciences, and broader cold chain logistics markets.
Cold chain logistics refers to the storage and transportation of temperature-sensitive products under controlled conditions. Pharmaceutical products, vaccines and biologic therapies can lose effectiveness or become unusable when exposed to temperatures outside approved ranges.
Companies operating these networks collect substantial amounts of information from sensors, transportation providers, warehouses and quality systems. However, determining how to act on that data can remain difficult when it is spread across disconnected platforms or lacks operational context.
PAXAFE’s platform is designed to connect these information sources, automate compliance workflows and help companies make decisions about shipment risks, quality events and supply chain exceptions.
The company describes its offering as a GxP cold-chain decision-intelligence and quality-compliance platform. GxP refers to regulated good practice requirements governing areas such as manufacturing, distribution, documentation and product quality.
Talens brings more than 25 years of experience across pharmaceutical supply chains and enterprise technology.
He joins PAXAFE from ParkourSC, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Solutions Officer. In that role, he worked on product strategy and the application of AI to supply chain decision-making for pharmaceutical, life sciences and consumer goods companies.
Talens was recognized as a 2025 Pros to Know honoree by Supply & Demand Chain Executive for his work in the industry.
Before moving into supply chain technology, Talens spent approximately 25 years in the pharmaceutical sector.
He most recently served as Associate Vice President of Global Supply Chain Operations at Organon, where he was a founding member of the team responsible for separating the company’s supply chain operations from Merck.
Across Merck and Organon, Talens held market, regional and global positions involving supply chain operations and centers of excellence.
His experience gives PAXAFE a commercial executive who has worked both as a customer of supply chain technologies and as a leader responsible for developing and selling those platforms.
PAXAFE CEO Ilya Preston said that perspective will be important as more companies move beyond passive shipment visibility toward systems that can recommend actions and support decisions.
Traditional visibility tools may show where a shipment is located or whether a temperature excursion occurred. Decision intelligence platforms seek to interpret the broader context, identify the consequences and recommend the appropriate response.
Talens said many organizations already possess the necessary data but lack a complete and unbiased view of how events across the network relate to one another.
As Chief Commercial Officer, he will help PAXAFE expand its platform while improving how customers use their existing visibility investments to protect products, control quality costs and reduce waste.
Talens holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration from Eindhoven University of Technology.
