PDW Receives Conditional $820 Million U.S. Government Loan Commitment For Drone Manufacturing

PDW Holdings has received a conditional loan commitment of up to $820 million from the U.S. Department of War’s Office of Strategic Capital to expand domestic manufacturing capacity for drones, robotics and autonomous systems.

The financing is intended to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign-controlled supply chains for components used in unmanned systems and strengthen domestic production capabilities supporting national security and industrial competitiveness.

PDW plans to combine the potential government financing with additional private capital to establish U.S. production of components including propulsion systems, power and control technologies, vision systems and other enabling hardware.

The company also intends to supply American-made components to other domestic manufacturers, broadening the impact of the investment beyond PDW’s own aircraft and supporting the wider U.S. drone industrial base.

The expanded production platform is initially expected to address defense requirements while establishing capabilities that could eventually serve public safety, industrial and commercial markets.

PDW currently combines engineering, flight testing, systems integration, production and fulfillment at Drone Factory 01, its 90,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama.

The company said modern conflicts have demonstrated that countries cannot wait until a crisis begins to develop the industrial capacity required to manufacture unmanned systems at scale.

PDW believes the proposed financing would help address that vulnerability by increasing domestic production of both complete systems and the technologies needed to build and maintain them.

The loan commitment remains conditional. PDW must complete additional financial, legal, technical and due diligence requirements before the financing can reach final closing.
