PhilWeb Corporation has elected Lance Y. Gokongwei as Chairman of its Board of Directors as the Philippine technology company shifts toward large-scale execution of its business-to-business AI infrastructure strategy.
The appointment follows Gokongwei’s recent ₱2.02 billion strategic equity investment in PhilWeb and his appointment to the company’s board in July.
PhilWeb said the leadership transition completes its institutional governance restructuring and marks a transition from capital formation toward executing its commercial AI-enabled technology roadmap.
Under Gokongwei’s oversight, PhilWeb plans to accelerate deployment of an enterprise artificial intelligence layer designed to support regulated digital businesses.
The company’s immediate technology priorities include real-time operational monitoring, algorithmic risk management, regulatory compliance automation, anti-fraud detection and data-driven customer lifecycle optimization.
PhilWeb is positioning those capabilities as backend infrastructure for organizations operating in complex and highly regulated environments.
President Brian Ng said the company’s AI infrastructure is being designed in part for premium commercial tourism complexes and multinational platform providers.
The strategy reflects PhilWeb’s broader transition toward becoming an institutional-grade digital infrastructure provider rather than focusing solely on its historical technology activities.
PhilWeb said its AI-driven technology currently supports an interconnected ecosystem spanning major Southeast Asian commercial and cultural tourism conglomerates, multinational digital platforms and licensed institutional partners.
The company is also integrating global digital content and research and development institutions into its broader technology infrastructure.
Gokongwei’s election therefore links the company’s governance changes with its technology and capital strategy as PhilWeb moves into the next phase of its B2B expansion.
