Phoenix Tailings announced the acquisition of Boston-based industrial technology company Machinery Partner as the rare earth manufacturer expands its AI, automation, and digital manufacturing infrastructure capabilities.

The acquisition adds digital infrastructure and automation expertise to Phoenix Tailings’ existing chemistry and industrial hardware capabilities, as the company seeks to accelerate domestic rare-earth production and strengthen U.S. critical minerals processing capacity.

Phoenix Tailings said the acquisition creates a three-pillar technology platform focused on chemistry, industrial hardware, and digital systems for rare earth manufacturing operations.

Machinery Partner co-founders Clement Cazalot and David Blair will join Phoenix Tailings as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Data and Automation, respectively.

According to the company, Machinery Partner’s AI platform and operating system are already deployed across hundreds of industrial sites in the United States and will now be integrated into Phoenix Tailings’ refining operations.

Phoenix Tailings said the integration is expected to improve production yields through AI-assisted chemistry optimization, increase equipment uptime through predictive diagnostics, reduce production costs through automation, and accelerate deployment of refining systems through standardized digital infrastructure.

The company stated that rare earth processing requires advanced expertise across chemistry, materials science, and manufacturing systems and that technological innovation is critical to competing globally in the sector.

Phoenix Tailings develops domestic rare earth production technologies spanning extraction, separation, refining, and metallization while operating under a zero-waste and zero-emissions framework.

KEY QUOTES:

“Rare earth processing is ultimately a technology race. Success comes from having the best chemistry, the best industrial hardware, and now the best digital infrastructure. Phoenix Tailings has built the strongest rare earth technology platform in the world, and Machinery Partner accelerates our ability to continuously improve with every production run through AI, automation, and operational intelligence.”

Nick Myers, CEO And Co-Founder, Phoenix Tailings

“Rare earth independence will not be achieved by simply rebuilding legacy industrial systems. The future belongs to companies that combine advanced chemistry, industrial hardware, and digital intelligence into one integrated technology platform. Together, Phoenix Tailings and Machinery Partner are building the technological foundation that can outcompete global incumbents and accelerate America’s rare earth freedom.”
