Pilot Fiber has completed its acquisition of Extenet Systems’ enterprise fiber business, expanding the New York metro connectivity provider into New Jersey and adding more than 20 data centers to its network. The acquired infrastructure includes former Hudson Fiber Network and Axiom Fiber Network assets.

Pilot now owns and operates the expanded network.

The transaction adds direct connectivity to Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange and strengthens Pilot’s presence among financial services and carrier customers.

Approximately 200 enterprise, carrier and institutional customers spanning financial services, healthcare, media and higher education are also transitioning to Pilot.

Pilot said existing services will continue without disruption.

The company plans to invest further in the newly acquired New Jersey infrastructure.

Since 2014, Pilot has built more than 300 miles of fiber infrastructure throughout New York City.

Its network serves more than 3,700 businesses across more than 1,000 buildings.

Pilot provides dedicated internet access, Ethernet transport, dark fiber, wavelengths and IP transit, with installation times of approximately five to 15 days in on-net buildings compared with an industry standard of 30 to 90 days.
