Pindrop Launches BotStopper To Detect AI Voice Agents In Real Time

Pindrop, a cybersecurity company specializing in deepfake detection and identity verification, has launched Pindrop BotStopper, a standalone technology designed to detect AI voice agents and automated callers in real time as enterprises face a rapidly growing volume of machine-generated interactions.

The launch expands Pindrop’s Identity Trust Platform beyond traditional customer authentication and fraud detection to address interactions involving customers, employees and autonomous AI agents.

Pindrop said AI-powered attacks across more than 700 million customer interactions have increased nearly 1,680% since late 2024. At the same time, AI agents are increasingly calling enterprise systems to check balances, file claims and perform other activities on behalf of users, creating a need for companies to distinguish legitimate agents from malicious automation.

BotStopper is designed to identify whether a caller is human or machine in approximately two seconds. It is built on Pindrop Pulse, the company’s existing deepfake detection technology used by enterprises to identify synthetic voices.

Unlike Pindrop’s existing integrated offerings, BotStopper is available as a standalone product to enterprises in any industry without requiring another Pindrop product.

The technology is also supported by Pindrop’s newly launched AI Voice Consortium, which includes a registry of more than 5,000 known AI voices. That intelligence enables the system not only to determine whether a caller is synthetic but also to help recognize specific known AI voice technologies.

Pindrop sees that capability as the first step toward what it describes as agentic identity, where enterprises would eventually determine which AI agent is interacting with them, who it represents and what permissions or access it should receive.

The company has already demonstrated the technology in production environments.

At one Fortune 500 healthcare organization, Pindrop’s real-time bot detection identified more than 30,000 bot calls in less than a year. Bot activity peaked at 6,668 calls during one month when approximately $15.1 million in health savings account balances were exposed to potential risk.

Within four months of deployment, bot activity declined 94.3%, according to Pindrop.

UnitedHealth Group’s Optum Financial also uses Pindrop Pulse to identify automated activity and potential risks before suspicious interactions reach customer service representatives.

Pindrop said the AI agents it encounters are becoming more sophisticated than conventional scripted bots. Some can adapt during conversations, change behavior when challenged and probe enterprise systems for sensitive information.

The company is seeing these activities across healthcare, financial services, insurance and retail, where automated callers can consume contact-center capacity, impersonate legitimate customers or conduct reconnaissance that could precede a larger attack.

The underlying Pindrop Pulse technology was independently evaluated in a June 2026 Podonos benchmark of audio deepfake detection systems. Pindrop said Pulse was one of four systems to exceed 95% accuracy and was identified as the fastest accurate detector evaluated.

BotStopper is available now. Existing Pindrop Pulse for Call Center customers receive BotStopper and access to the AI Voice Consortium at no additional cost. Certain new customers purchasing BotStopper as part of Pindrop’s broader product suite may also qualify for up to $1 million of reimbursement under the Pindrop Pulse Warranty.

The AI Voice Consortium will become another intelligence source for the Pindrop Intelligence Network, or PIN, which serves as the company’s broader fraud and identity intelligence layer.

PIN incorporates information from more than 8 billion real-world interactions spanning voice, device, network and behavioral signals. As additional fraud patterns and AI voice technologies are detected across the network, Pindrop uses that intelligence to strengthen detection capabilities for customers.

Pindrop also announced additional PIN capabilities involving new risk signals, NextGen ANI Validation and expanded fraud intelligence intended to help organizations distinguish legitimate customers from fraudulent or automated activity.

Beyond voice calls, Pindrop is expanding its deepfake detection capabilities into workforce environments.

Pindrop Pulse for Meetings is adding continuous video analysis during screen sharing and can integrate with hiring platforms to identify proxy candidates, identity swaps and inconsistencies across different interview stages. Detection results can be written directly into candidate records, creating an audit trail for recruiting teams.

The company is also developing AI agents for internal fraud and risk operations. Its Fraud Investigation Agent is designed to help analysts interpret evidence and identify links across suspicious activities, while Enrollment Agent combines Pindrop intelligence with an organization’s policies to support enrollment decisions.

Pindrop’s broader strategy is to establish an identity and trust layer capable of determining whether people and AI agents interacting with enterprise systems are real, synthetic, known, unknown, trusted or potentially risky.

The Atlanta-based company is trusted by 14 of the 20 largest U.S. banks, five of the seven largest insurers and three major healthcare providers. Its technology is backed by a portfolio of more than 300 patents.

KEY QUOTES:

“The goal is not to block AI agents. Legitimate agents are going to call enterprises on behalf of real customers and they should be welcomed. The goal is to know which agent is calling, who it represents and what it should be allowed to do. Pindrop BotStopper is the first step. It tells you in about two seconds that the caller is a machine and the AI Voice Consortium tells you which one. Everything we build from here answers the questions that follow.”

“At Optum Financial, trust isn’t just a technology question. It’s a business, risk and customer experience decision. Pindrop Pulse has been a tremendous benefit to both our advocates and our members. By helping us detect bot activity and identify risk before it reaches our advocates, we can better support our teams while giving our members a better, more secure experience.”
