Ping Identity Completes Keyless Acquisition

By Amit Chowdhry • Jan 8, 2026

Ping Identity announced it has completed its acquisition of Keyless, adding what it calls Zero-Knowledge Biometrics to strengthen enterprise defenses against increasingly sophisticated AI-driven identity attacks, including deepfakes, impersonation, and account takeover. The company said the newly integrated capabilities expand its platform with device-independent, cryptographically protected biometric authentication and re-verification aimed at elevating verified trust across digital interactions.

Ping said Keyless’ patented technology can re-verify an originally verified user “with one glance,” enabling multi-factor authentication and re-verification in under 300 milliseconds. The approach uses cryptographic techniques designed so biometric data is never stored in a retrievable or reconstructable form, positioning it as a privacy-first method that can operate without relying on a dedicated device.

The company said Keyless can securely bind a user to one or more devices and can also re-verify different users on a shared device, extending strong verification to environments where traditional MFA may fall short. Ping said the combined capabilities support continuous identity assurance across customer, workforce, and B2B use cases, including onboarding, access, step-up authentication, and recovery, while supporting compliance with privacy and security regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, as well as frameworks including eIDAS 2.0 and the emerging PSD3. Financial terms were not disclosed.

KEY QUOTES:

“AI is accelerating identity-based attacks. Authentication must be resilient and simple to use, while simultaneously ensuring the originally verified user is who they say they are. Keyless delivers privacy-preserving biometrics that make strong verification effortless. Now that the acquisition is complete, we can bring this simplicity and strength to customers across every digital interaction.”

“Joining Ping Identity is a major milestone for our team and technology. Zero-Knowledge Biometrics allow organizations to re-verify the originally verified identity across the entire journey—onboarding, access, step up, and recovery—without ever exposing biometric data. Together with Ping, we can deliver that level of protection at a global scale.”
