Point2 Technology announced an extension of its Series B financing round, bringing total funding to $76 million to accelerate development of its RF-based interconnect solutions for AI data center infrastructure. The round was led by Maverick Silicon, with participation from NVentures and UMC Capital. The funding highlights growing investor interest in next-generation interconnect technologies as AI workloads continue to scale.
The new capital will support the commercialization of Point2’s Active RF Cable platform and the continued development of its near-package and co-packaged e-Tube solutions designed for next-generation rack-scale compute systems. The company is also expanding its engineering and systems teams as it moves toward deployment.
As hyperscale AI systems grow larger and more interconnected, interconnect infrastructure is increasingly becoming a bottleneck compared to compute performance. Traditional copper solutions are reaching their physical limits at higher data rates, while optical approaches introduce trade-offs in power consumption, cost, and system complexity.
Point2’s e-Tube platform leverages RF signaling over plastic waveguides to deliver improvements in reach, bandwidth density, energy efficiency, and latency. The technology is designed to support accelerator-to-accelerator communication and scalable data center architectures, offering an alternative to conventional copper and optical interconnects.
The platform enables significant performance gains, including extended reach compared to copper, reduced power consumption and cost relative to optical solutions, and ultra-low latency without reliance on laser-based systems. It also supports multiple form factors, including pluggable cables, near-package modules, and co-packaged solutions.
The funding comes amid broader ecosystem momentum, as hyperscalers and semiconductor companies seek more efficient interconnect solutions to support increasingly complex AI infrastructure. Point2’s approach has gained industry recognition, including being named a BloombergNEF Pioneers winner for technologies focused on scalable and sustainable data center infrastructure.
KEY QUOTES:
“We are honored to welcome Maverick Silicon as the lead investor in this round, and deeply appreciate the support from NVentures and UMC Capital. As AI systems scale, interconnect is increasingly the limiting factor. Our e-Tube platform takes a fundamentally different approach, using RF techniques to deliver the reach, efficiency, and latency required for next-generation scale-up architectures. This investment reflects the growing ecosystem support around that vision.”
Sean Park, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Point2 Technology
“Point2’s RF-based interconnect addresses critical limitations in scaling next-generation AI infrastructure. We’re excited to support the Point2 team as they move toward commercialization and broad deployment.”
Andrew Homan, Managing Partner, Maverick Silicon
“Point2 has an elegant approach not only for higher bandwidth density but also for simplifying the cable alignment, allowing new possibilities in data center system design. We are pleased to support the company as it advances toward commercialization and broader ecosystem adoption.”
Kris Peng, President, UMC Capital
